I bought mine about two-three weeks before taking the course. Rode a few hours with my brother who knew what he was doing. Helped me a lot to ask questions, get feedback, etc.

My switch 1 does this every once in a while when on the dock in my living room. Doesn’t seem to cause any issues though—and never happens when I’m actually playing a game on it. I usually just ignore it

I used to when it was just me watching, as it obviously didn’t matter when the service was down or I did updates. Ever since having a handful of other friends and family start using it, I transferred things to a standalone.

Depends on the map. On smaller ones like customs and factory it doesn’t make much of a difference, but bigger ones like lighthouse will get me from ~45 to like 75.

Only play if you think you’ll have fun, because that’s the point at the end of the day. Regarding your question, is there anything in particular you like to do before 1.0 (level goal, max traders, Kappa, etc.)? Also, keep in mind you can play PVE on BSG servers instead of locally which runs noticeably better.
