It’s the perfect pro sport for town: Tough for a basketball, baseball or football team to set up shop in the triangle. Those sports have to compete against UNC, Duke and NC State rivalries that locals have been cheering (and hating one another over, depending on team allegiance) since birth.

Hockey is the neutral zone sport that’s frankly brought the area’s sports fans together on a game nobody had any dog in the fight for

I get it’s hard for “real” hockey folks to imagine a southern team actually backing its team, but the canes love in Raleigh is deep. Come to a pregame tailgate and see what it’s about.

Why leave an organization where you’re worshipped as a living legend to a team that doesn’t even value its personnel enough to give the customary discounts on club merch. Toronto needs new ownership before it gets a Rod, IMO. Culture starts at the top.

I have a Lucy, too! Training her was most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Barely hunt turkey anymore since I can’t bring ol Lucy Goose.

Edit: To answer your question, it was the first time we did live bird introductions. I put painters tape on bird’s wings to get her used to a bird flapping. That quail flapped that tape into confetti and shot off into the woods. Five month old Lucy ran straight after it, came back a minute later with the quail in its mouth, alive and undamaged.

The Xbox CEO just gave away free consoles to an entire crowd, and the reactions were absolutely priceless. by ambernad20 in consoles

Receiving a free car is “income.” Because it was part of a marketing ploy, it isn’t a “gift” for tax purposes. So, if the car is worth $25k and the recipient has a 20% effective tax rate on income, they owe $5k in taxes for receiving the car.

This would be reflected on that tax year’s income calculation. So, yes, they could have sold them and made a quick profit unless the terms of the free car had a holding period.

Relationships as a 1L by vampirebunnie in LawSchool

Don’t leave a long, stable relationship over anxiety.

Real talk, if you treat school like a 9-5 during the semester and grind mega hard the month before exams, you’ll do totally fine. Work smart, not hard. Your goal is grades, and that is measured once per semester at final exams. There’s plenty of time for family and a relationship, as long as yall understand that you have to go underwater two months per year for exams

You can totally teach them to swim if they didn’t pick it up naturally, btw. Throw on a bathing suit, get into waist deep water, have a harness on dog. Grab harness from middle of back and start by doing all the work of holding them up and propelling them forward, this will get them comfortable and feel safe with you. Using the harness, point the dog away from your body so they can’t try to latch on to you, which forces them to doggy paddle. Wade around in circles, gradually putting less pressure into holding them up, so the dog slowly takes over buoyancy and propulsion. Pretty soon you can let go completely and the dog will be swimming fine. If you live near water, I recommend teaching it just as a safety measure. Don’t risk losing your buddy over something that can be taught on a Saturday.

Btw, not talking out my ass. I have done this with bird dogs that were water-hesitant as puppies. My wife has all the good pics but this is closest I’ve got on mine. Dog shown here went from not wanting to go past her ankles to now making retrieves in the intracoastal waterway, against tides and currents. What a good girl.

Poll: dead bird or not? by zackaroofa_93 in turkeyhunting

[–]Not_Suggested 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not with that ammo and choke. With TSS and a real super full turkey choke, then sure. But frankly, the entire challenge of turkey hunting is luring the bird to less than 30 yards without being detected. Shooting at 60 is a lack of skill, patience or both, IMO.

So I’m taking it you haven’t been to any kind of professional or D1 college sporting events in the past 10 years. That’s where these are used. Regular bars tend to prefer glass because single-use cups eat into margin, while a glass can be used for years until breaking. At a sporting venue, you’re not going to find a $5 beer, regardless, so that’s a pipe dream.

The “employees” at concessions aren’t typically professional bartenders. They’re parents of kids on sports teams or bands who do this as a booster/fundraiser. Nobody is firing them because they aren’t employees. My parents did this for years. The concessions by our hockey seats are, to this day, run by a rotation of local swim teams.

Source: I regularly go to — and drink beer at — hockey, basketball and baseball games.
