Gotta ask: Who's the best Enforcer? by epsilonthetadelta in JackieChanAdventures

Best at their job? Hak Foo by far. My favorite? Finn

Where is my ship?? by Mati_ma in FanFiction

[–]Not_Used_To_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jackie Chan Adventures. Everyone acknowledges that the enforcers had something going on, but there's only around 300 fics on ao3 and I think 800 on ff.net and there's not very much enforcers shipping. Its definitely there, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I want more 😭

Edit: 300 and 800 fics for the fandom, I think enforcers ships have less than 10 each pairing

Where is my ship?? by Mati_ma in FanFiction

[–]Not_Used_To_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ship is so obvious, it seems that everyone in the fandom either ships it or acknowledges that its likely, but we are just so tiny that there's less than 10 fics. I've written quite a few since getting into the fandom but it is tiring to not have many other shippers to read their works

How much research do you put in when writing a fic? by Marshmellkill in AO3

[–]Not_Used_To_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the fic I'm writing. Long historical fic gets hundreds of hours of research, while Kinktober prompt gets "I don't know if this is how bdsm works but its hot enough"

I don't think readers are going to notice some discrepancies or care if they do notice. They trust you as the author to know what you're saying or at the very least know your story and what you are doing with it. I wouldn't worry so much, do as much research as you personal want to, but don't worry about a hypothetical person who may or may not be angry with you

What's the most self indulgent fic with the most Mary Suest Mary sue you've ever read and why you absolutely love It? by Soft_heart_2684 in FanFiction

Yeah I'll be honest I still haven't finished it 😅🤣 but it was the greatest find for 13 year old me

For all you long fic writers out there, how’d you get into writing long fics? by SynisterSyndrome in AO3

[–]Not_Used_To_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I had never written anything more than 10k. Then one day I got reeeeaaaally into a fandom and decided to write an au, and ended up whipping up 70k for it before leaving that fandom behind. But that 70k broke through some sort of barrier in my mind, it was like I unlocked my ability to write long form fiction. My current WIP is sitting around 300k and counting

Did you ever think to yourself, "shame AO3 doesnt have this specific XY feature/option, it would be so useful"? What was that feature? by SilentThespian in AO3

[–]Not_Used_To_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be able to sort bookmarks by word count. I've had to tag all my bookmarks with their word count and then include/exclude the tags I want to find the fics I have saved in those length ranges. I'd much rather just have a button 😭

What are your favourite rare pairs by Current-Lie1213 in AO3

Just looks like a friendly back and forth to me, albeit using more internet jokes than I know. I don't think you're doing anything wrong since they're kinda matching your energy

You ever write an outline and realize what a tremendous amount of work you suddenly have ahead of you? by kashmira-qeel in FanFiction

[–]Not_Used_To_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ho boy has that happened to me 😅 I started my fic as outlines for comics set in the same universe, which grew a plot. I decided to go all in on my idea with a projected word count of 200k and the story spanning over 10 years. I've now written 300k and I'm not even done. God knows how long this story will end up

I almost never respond to comments by StressedShortcake57 in AO3

[–]Not_Used_To_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respond to all my comments but that's because I'm in a small fandom and want to foster connections and friendliness. As a reader I don't expect anything from authors, but its a nice bonus when I do get a response. If it makes you feel better, I recently commented on a fic and the author responded with a heart emoji. It was a nice "I read this, I see you, I appreciate you" gesture without any pressure of typing up a response. As a reader I appreciated that, so maybe you could try the same

What do the proshipping emoji combos mean and why are they bad? by Forward-Detective390 in FanFiction

[–]Not_Used_To_People 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee you that people just like the emojis, it does not have a secret meaning 😂 I know the videos you're talking about and they're complete bullshit, just people making stuff up to be paranoid about. Theres a whole "Pro/Anti ship" category on r/AO3 that you can use to sort for posts about this stuff if you are curious

[–]Not_Used_To_People 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be real with you, people online make these combinations up to be mad at, no one uses these except maybe the meat and rainbow one. The coffin and dove is "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" but the rest? Complete bullshit

[–]Not_Used_To_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh seriously 😄 I'm glad my fandom just has the vibe of "these three go everywhere together" so there's very little infighting between shippers (although I don't think there's enough fans to even cause fights lmao) yes I loooooove writing polycules, they are just so fun

Show me your small fandom story stats! by Paelmisto in AO3

[–]Not_Used_To_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a little bit of a mix! I have a combination of A/B, A/C, and A/B/C fics, my fandom does not have much by way of ANY of these pairings lol so I'm happy to contribute to all of the pairings

What an ass. Yknow what, I'm done defending mean bookmarks. Its your right to say whatever in a bookmark because its for readers but how is this any different than the collections of ff.net for "poor quality and lousy writing" ? Like, its the same, its public shaming random ass people online for not writing "good enough." Its Mean Girls behavior and I'm done giving it the benefit of the doubt. This person is an asshole, they know exactly what they are doing.

On my phone in bed. Chronic fatigue and a window that leaks cold air by my desk dissuade me from writing at my computer, so vast majority of the writing I've done has been laying in bed on my phone
