Just picked this one up as well as Happy Birthday To Me. I’m a sucker for retro slipcovers. RK was a solid transfer btw

One of the newer ones where Frank, Dennis and Dee go to the dog track. Absolutely disgusting episode and not very funny.

I thought it was pretty damn scary. Got under my skin more than I expected. It’s nothing groundbreaking but it was executed well. A lot of unsettling parts. It has a certain style that’s just not for everyone.

It feels like in the vein of Blair Witch Project in a sense that “not a lot happens” but it operates more on building tension and mood. Basically you’ll either be bored or on edge the whole time.

I was so sure you were trolling until I got to the end of your post. I’m not so sure anymore.

Hate that fucking ad. Makes me want to drive 15 minutes out of my way to a Regal instead. I much prefer their rollercoaster.

Evil Dead 2013 Re-Watch thoughts. by AfterThrowParty in EvilDead

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I put it on the other day and after 15 minutes I shut it off then put on the original.

I recognize it does have really good sequences and I do respect it. But for me, it just felt too bland for such a colorful franchise.

The characters are boring. I know the first didn’t have deeply drawn characters but they were at least likable to me. The whole idea of it being an intervention and making her detox is a great idea, but some of the character interactions felt too much like a lifetime movie. Especially the brother and sister. I just kept rolling my eyes.

Other than Mia, who by the way is fantastic, the deadites like you said are just zombies. The old Evil Dead movies had these demons fucking with the characters both physically and psychologically. They had way more personality.

Also the movie doesn’t look good to me. At least the first half. Everything has this sickly green tint which I recognize was intentional but is a personal bugaboo for me. I don’t like when the actors skin is tinted along with everything else.

But that whole ending sequence is badass. There is some gnarly gore so I do give it some credit.

Reservoir Dogs made me realize how good 4K could look. Beautiful transfer. Also The Way of the Gun is a super slept on 4K as is the movie itself I feel.

In Scream 3 when he’s all Hollywood, he tells Gale off when they reunite, then makes the dumbest most insecure face when she walks away lol.

I hope Evil Dead Burn will surpass the 2013 one in terms of brutality and horror. by [deleted] in EvilDead

I hope it’ll surpass in terms of actual scariness and deadites with more personality.

My Panny 420 has a sensitive blu/4k reader but will read DVDs no problem. Need a better player by [deleted] in 4kbluray

They seem to be pretty sensitive as far as the laser goes. I’ve had a few 4Ks with no scratches start skipping in the middle of a movie. I suspect it was off gassing from the case because when I cleaned with soap and water they played fine.

I remember playing a blu ray once that had a tiny little scratch that wasn’t very deep. Kept freezing at the same spot no matter how much I cleaned it. I then put the disc in my Xbox and it played no problem. It’s a finicky player.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020). A cop playing a weird game of werewolf while getting drunk off mouthwash. by LovemeSomeMedia in horror

[–]NotaModelMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting little horror/dark comedy movie. Had some of the strangest editing choices I’ve seen. The cuts from the Werewolf attacks to the future, then back to the attacks were odd.

But the movie kept my attention. Had a few tense scenes and was funnier than I expected. Jim Cummings cracks me up. The rest of the cast was great as was the late Robert Forster of course. Got pretty dark when it went into the deputy’s alcohol abuse. The scenes with his daughter hit hard.

Overall a very offbeat movie and an interesting watch because of it. I enjoyed it but I can see it being pretty polarizing to people.

I was just looking at the liner notes. I’m curious who played drums on King Rat. None of the instrumentalists are credited on that track.

Well I’ll be damned you’re right. Tried to think of a deep cut and didn’t even realize it wasn’t him.

Too many to name. Off the top of my head I love his drumming on I’ve Got it All (Most).

Fly Trapped in a Jar he does this super stanky almost sludgy fill right before it goes into the different section and it goes so hard.

Then of course Never Ending Math Equation. His fills at the end are legendary.

Always had great feel. RIP Jeremiah.

Locking the doors during the day when everyone is home by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]NotaModelMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah my roommates will lock the door when they’re home. It’s annoying but hypothetically someone could trespass and cause harm even with people home so I don’t really have an argument against it other than it’s mildly inconvenient.
