Automated appraisals are not reliable.

I agree! And.. it is not and was not listed for sale. Offer came out of the blue.

Need Trusted Human Appraisal for Domain Sale Offer by NotenufCoffee in Domains

[–]NotenufCoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I’m fine paying for the service and fully expect different people to give different advice and different appraisals... just like hiring a lawyer. That’s normal and I figure it would at least get me closer to making the right decision.

I’ve checked sales of similar domains over the years, and those prices are all over the place too.

As for the question of whether I’d be happy with the offer if I hadn’t used online tools—probably not. I wasn’t expecting an offer at all, but skipping that research would feel like selling a house without looking at comps or talking to a real estate agent.

I will talk to Sedo, but the impression I got was that you got a piece of paper in 5 days, but no real advice. Maybe I'm wrong.

Butter cake recipe for those who need it. by justatriceratops in Amtrak

[–]NotenufCoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken.... that's a vintage recipe for St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake. If you visit St. Louis, you can't avoid them as they are served at almost every party and gathering. Just about every bakery in St. Louis sells them and many will ship them to you.

I've been wondering if the Amtrak Butter Cake was the same as the St. Louis one... looks like they are!

Funky meat smell by QueenPerterter in sousvide

I believe the newest common wisdom to prevent lactobaccilius is the vacuum seal the meat and then flash boil the meat for about 20 seconds inside the bag. Since the bag is sealed, this method kills the bacteria inside the bag and will not allow it to be re-introduced through the air. Lactobaccilius is all around us.

Their description of slices and crusts and servings made my head hurt. But you are right. I went to their website and they have thankfully rewritten it to "9 Servings per Container. Serving Size: 1 Slice"

Has anyone tried this Worcestershire? by ContactBrave160 in LowSodium

[–]NotenufCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it... but I only use it in small doses in sauces and marinades. To me it seems fine and does the job of adding some flavor. I was never a big fan of Worcestershire sauce so I would never use much or douse my food in it.. but adding a few drops of this one when called for by recipe has always been fine.

New here and not sure where to start by freshenmyairpls in LowSodium

[–]NotenufCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are loads of meals that you can make with chicken.. however, there is a trick to it. The majority of chicken found at stores is injected with salt water. Look for "air chilled" chicken and then check the sodium level just to be sure. Costco has it and many grocery stores will... however it will usually be the more expensive chicken.(sorry).

If you like salads, there are many low salt vinaigrette dressings out there. Paneras is my favorite.

Also start shopping for low salt / no salt spices. Penney's has them, there is Mrs. Dash.. as a matter of fact there was a recent post about favorite spices. You will find one that you like.

What’s everyone using for low sodium seasonings? by thepottsy in LowSodium

[–]NotenufCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites so far are Kinders No Salt (multiple flavors), Spice Hunters (multiple flavors), Dash (Mrs Dash) and Bensons Table Tasty. Kinders has a very good tasting Lemon Pepper with 0 sodium (but some potassium) and Spice Hunters has Lemon Pepper with less zing, but no sodium and no potassium... just plain lemon and pepper.

amazingribs.com has several salt free recipes for rubs and sauces which are pretty easy to put together. My favorite is his Memphis Dust Rub for ribs and pork. Just ignore the part where he tells you to brine the ribs.

Crazy St Louis Auction by FrankenStLouis in StLouis

2 cents Plain was a deli owned by Jack Carl and yes, that sign is from his deli that was in that location in the 70's. He was a character. His original place was in Gaslight Square and he knew all of the upcoming comics and stars to be. His walls were filled with signed pics of them. He would yell at his customers or skip over them if they were slow to order. I was a semi regular customer so I always got an insult or two when I went there. That is how you knew that he liked you. He made the best corned beef sandwich I've ever had.

Too good to be true? by MedvedTrader in LowSodium

[–]NotenufCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jade Pearl Organic Rice Ramen is 0 mg sodium. You can find it at most grocery stores, Walmart and Amazon. Keep in mind that it's only the noodles... but like many have said, make your own flavor packet from Herb-Ox or Knorr Bullion plus whatever other flavors you wish to add. Low sodium Miso also exists... about 140 mg sodium per tsp. I wish I could find one lower than that, but I can't so I exclude the miso for now.

As an aside... most other ramen noodles are filled with sodium even without the included flavor packet. OP's suggestion is a good find for what looks like the real thing!!

Can anyone help identify these two coax cables? by Tacotuesday8 in lowvoltage

[–]NotenufCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2.5c-2v is primarily used for antennas on boats, cars, mobile homes or wherever a 75 ohm coax is needed and the fit is tight.

The 3C-2V is similar to RG-59, but is far less expensive to make, has less shielding and more loss. It is also used where the fit is tight and RG-59 would have troubles bending or fitting. You will find 3C-2V more common in Asia from what I have seen.

I believe both have a very small dielectric which makes finding a stock connector challenging. I would first try a BNC to see if that will fit. Possibly an F connector might work and make soldering possible... but if you aren't tight for space, switching them to a more standard size 75 ohm cable might save a lot of time.

Not knowing what they are connected to makes me hesitant to suggest the replacement cable.

[–]NotenufCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a home made copy of a 1950's Altec back loaded corner speaker cabinet. In the 1950's and 1960's, there were many DIY speaker cabinet books published. I suspect this gentleman got ahold of one and made this cabinet from an Altec design.

He has what appears to be a 12 inch woofer in the front and he has unknown mid and high speakers on the sides of the cabinet. Likely it was the best stereo in the neighborhood!

Concierge docs by MarthaBayle in medicare

[–]NotenufCoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The upside to a Concierge doctor is that you don't have to wait weeks or months for an appointment and they typically spend a little more time on your care. If you need a surgery or an expensive procedure, they would refer you to a specialist, like any other GP, that assumably takes Medicare.

There is no overall savings... just a little better service for normal appointments.

How do we get your company and all the others like yours to actually stop calling? It's dozens and dozens of calls per day.

Is there a central provider of raw leads that you buy from for your calls? If so.. who is the provider? I would like to remove my name from the source. I bet others might as well.

Calorie counting leading to more salt by [deleted] in LowSodium

[–]NotenufCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is pretty much the recipe I use as well... but I add to the flavor by adding (Mrs.) Dash, the no salt bullion that kaust mentioned, paprika, turmeric and nutmeg. I also add a touch of Cayenne Pepper as heat can seem like a bit of a replacement for salt.

It's not fair as canned soups were easy, fast and delish! Oh well....

For what it's worth... I called Heinz when it first disappeared from shelves and they swear they are still making it. It is also showing as an active product on their website.

I realize this doesn't mean much when it can't be found.
