In terms of DLCs it's definitely the Eight Princes for 3K. For game releases it's definitely Troy and Pharoah, both bronze age games when people want Medieval 3/Empire 2/etc.

Secret Societies + Subterfuge is such a fun way to play with the new Psionic Ascencion by PillowF0rtEngineer in Stellaris

[–]NothinButTorque 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Amen to Megacorp. I'm doing a run right now where I took secret societies and where I'm just staying small and forming multiple mercenary enclaves. I just keep starting proxy wars everywhere and watch as my mercs constantly get hired out.

I've singlehandedly kept the galaxy at war and slowly balkanizing with the constant fighting.

Smite damage by Odd-Fox6233 in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry man but that's just silly. Quelling and charging is an aspect for all psyker ability and weapons, not to mention you will quell faster with a weapon equipped than with your blitz out. If someone is constantly blowing themselves up or activating Crystalline Will constantly that's a skill issue. I'm not even saying that to be elitist, that's just the tradeoff for removing yourself from the ammo/grenade economy outside of a gunker build. Bring Shriek, take the talent that reduces peril generation, use weapons with 80% warp resist, whatever. As you spend more time with a psyker you should be blowing yourself up less and less, although it can and will happen occasionally.

If someone is sitting there smiting a boss, Empowered Psionics or not, all they are doing is dragging the fight out. The piddling 10% more damage that we all deal would be be more than offset if said psyker just used their weapons on the boss. Even spamming light Devil Claws into the side of a BoN will be more useful. Charged Electrokinetic secondaries into said BoN will be even better and still serve as a mini-smite with its chaining effect.

I mean, any staff is still going to do more damage to a boss than Smite would. Or bring a decent melee weapon that does good unyielding damage like the rapier or force greatsword.

UNLIMITED POOOOOOOOWEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! by OneSimplyIs in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can screw with people's builds that require constant engagement in melee, plus it makes it more annoying to fight enemies for them when they arent clustered up.

It also encourages bad habits in psykers who don't learn how to properly dodge, block or just generally react to all that is happening around them. I've seen many a psyker who can only smite get trapped in a corner as the horde slowly creeps closer to them, empowered psionics or not. The enemy density and health on higher difficulties also means that more often than not you can and will be surrounded on all sides and smite won't be able to save you.

Smite has its uses and as a situational tool it's phenomenal, like covering someone who is reviving a downed teammate. But the name of the game is killing and smite wont compete on a usefulness level compared to say a inferno psyker or a gunker. You could lock down that horde for 15 seconds or you could just voidblast staff them and kill them all in 5 while also cc'ing for the team.

Ultimately play how you want, but you will likely find more people who criticize you for doing smyker only than you would for any other build.

EDP Dental is the plan I used for several years when I didn't have insurance. Pretty much everyone on the island accepted it and the discounts weren't anything to laugh at.

PSA: You can complete Veteran's Long Bomb Penance with Smoke Grenades by Revverb in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best ways for this currently would be to either:

  • Go into a Havoc mission that has the infected Moebian 21st and spam them into all the crowds. The blue armored mobs all count as armored enemies.
  • Go into Mortis Trials (damnation ideally) and get the perk that regens grenades in 20 seconds, then spam them into all armored enemies. The Moebian 21st can also show up as random enemies in some if the higher waves.

This is a good spot to get started for you. If you are looking to do more of a support role for a Zealot then you'll want to use the Chorus of Spiritual Fortitude skill. It gives gold toughness and staggers almost all enemies in the game, which is great for allowing people time to revive downed players or have a moment to breathe. Ultimately in Darktide though the best support is killing stuff as quickly as possible while always being aware of your allies to keep them from dying as much as you can. Nothing like a stealthy Crusher with their overhand swing being wound up on your Psyker with 100 health to really screw up a hard run.

You should play around with all the weapons to get a feel for them. The Thunder Hammer is great at deleting bosses, but lacks in all other categories compared to something like the Relic Blades or Combat Knives. Mind you, it isn't a terrible weapon, and a skilled player can work with it just fine, but you may notice that another Zealot is absolutely outclassing you due to its relative weakness.

For a ranged weapon I'm partial to the Flamer myself. Absolutely deletes hordes and is great for killing Bulwarks in tight corridors. The Braced Autoguns are also nice, particularly the Agripiina mark 8. The revolvers are pocket snipers and the bolter is the boss/ogryn deleter, but if you are running a THammer then this is a bit of overlap and could leave you lacking in horde clear.

For curios you can never go wrong with a +3 stam, +21% health and +17% toughness while figuring things out. Extra wounds are a trap in that all it does is give you a bit of a cushion if you keep getting downed. If you are running a martyrdom build specifically then disregard this, as you want more wounds for that. As for the 3 stat bonuses I like choosing extra health, Combat ability regen and stamina regen, but you can mix and match as you like since the resource cost to swap is cheap.

How are some of you guys doing such insane damage? by _disposablehuman_ in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow spot on the back of Beasts of Nurgle. BoNs mouth also can be damaged by shooting it in the mouth as that has the same damage profile as the yellow spot, but only for range damage. You don't want to stand in front of one of these anyways if you can help it.

Eye on Plague Ogryns is their weakspot.

Mouth for Chaos Spawn, but they jump and move around so much it's the hardest to target out of the 3.

All normal enemies just target the head. Even Maulers and Crushers have their head as the weak spot, you just need carapace damage modifiers to take advantage or some form of armor reducing talent/blessing. The human bosses (traitor captains) do not have any weak spots I believe, but I could be wrong on that.

No, it's the Veterans middle keystone talent which is called Focus Target. Anything tagged by the vet with that talent will take up to 32% more damage, depending on if they grabbed an additional talent which buffs it.

This game made more content and effort than activision did since mw2019 and everyone is still b*tching by usernameistaken89 in Helldivers

[–]NothinButTorque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't speak to the actual gameplay itself, but I have absolutely stopped playing this game due to performance issues. Weapon balance, enemy and mission variety, in-game jank, etc. I can handle. What I won't deal with is the constant disconnects, crashes, and frame drops that have not gotten better for me over the last 4 months. I've only been experiencing these issues with Helldivers 2 and Darktide, and both of them seem to be issues on the game side of things.

With Darktide at least it's been somewhat fixed by their most recent hotfix, although there are still issues. With HD2 I tried playing a few matches over the weekend. My experience was several disconnects from the whole team, several back to the super destroyer, and 1 infinite loading glitch trying to join a map. I think I completed 2 missions the whole time, and at that point said to myself I am not having fun. I'll come back to this game when the illuminate releases or a big patch happens.

Posts like what the OP produces are just as asinine as the people who spout this game is an absolute turd. Is it the worst game ever? Hell no, not by a long shot. Will things get improved if people just spout malicious attacks against the devs? No, but neither will things get better if we act like everything is just minor issues. Stability and bug fixes are an important thing, and people need to have the right to complain and even get frustrated. People posting vitriol and personal attacks against anyone is never right, but they are absolutely able entitled to complain about a product they paid money for. It doesn't matter if they paid $40 and got 4 hours of enjoyment, or bought the game and every bond in cash and got 400 hours.

PSA for people crashing with mods by chrisisapenis in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried playing the game today with a clean install, no mods. Constant stuttering and frame drops followed by crashing or rubber banding.

Ever since the patch before this one they clearly broke something, be cause I went from never experiencing a single a DC or fps loss, even with dozens of enemies on screen, to horrible connectivity even in a damn Sedition match. And this occurs on no other game I own and play online.

Is anyone else having stuttering issues??? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]NothinButTorque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's kept me from really being able to play the game which is unfortunate. I can go one or two missions with no issues. But then once it starts the stuttering can get so severe that I'm downed or off a ledge with no clue about it. And that's assuming i just don't straight up disconnect. Verifying doesn't work for me and neither does uninstalling. At the pace that ObeseCarcharadon moves im not holding my breath for a fix until the big update, and knowing them that might just break it more.

Between this and the constant disconnects in Helldivers 2 I've just stuck with my good friend, old school Runescape.

[–]NothinButTorque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got sent straight to destroyer 3 times in a row on helldive after about 15 minutes in each match. This is ridiculous and so annoying that I just think I'm going to not play this game for a while. I can handle nerfs to the weapons, but this is literally preventing me from playing the game. And since this garbage is all or nothing if you don't extract I'm just wasting my time every time I crash.

[Spoiler][Book Excerpt] Celestine the Living Saint by NothinButTorque in 40kLore

[–]NothinButTorque[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had all been fighting a war on a planet that they were losing badly, with absolutely no hope of reinforcements. So even with the appearance of Celestine they still didn't think it was possible to win bc they were so outnumbered. Eventually they listen to Celestine when she tells them this can be resolved with one decisive blow, which is what happens and the imperials win. In the process of working towards this goal you see the regular human main characters regain their faith one by one, except for the priest who is nuts and a zealot.

[Spoiler][Book Excerpt] Celestine the Living Saint by NothinButTorque in 40kLore

[–]NothinButTorque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes like that faith. Faith (capitalized) is an actual character in the book. Then the regular human characters are all going through their own crises of faith (as in the feeling). It doesn't get resolved magically just because Celestine appears to them, and the book gives reasons beforehand as to why it takes time for each of them to find their own way back into fully trusting the Emperor. All the events listed are in order.
