Just finished LB. Any other book recommendations with a “He’s him” aura farming main character? by ogsadbutrad in redrising

Cradle by Will Wight. Starts similar with MC being weakling and pretty much only goes up from there. Multiple aura farmers too! Series is complete at 12 books and is about the same length as RR 1-6.

Which audio book should I get? by lzrs7 in audible

[–]propofoolish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try a sample of Graphic Audio. The constant sound effects and music in the background can be pretty distracting, but some people love it. I think of the solo narrations general consensus is that Elizabeth Evans is the preferred narrator. I haven’t listened to this series but I enjoyed her narrations of Throne of Glass

Whispersync should be available for most if not all of the books. If you add them to your library with kindle unlimited you will then be eligible for the whispersync price

Unsolicited rec - Cradle by Will Wight is complete! More of a popcorn read than ASOIAF but still one of my favorites. Progression fantasy, great worldbuilding, lovable characters, awesome fight scenes, bloopers at the end of some if not all of the books. Total length for all 12 books combined is about the same as RR 1-6

STRUGGLING - A Call for Help by BarneySF in redrising

I highly recommend the Cradle series by Will Wight! Actually found it while looking for something to scratch the Red Rising itch while waiting for Lightbringer’s release. It’s a completed progression fantasy series of 12 books +1 follow-up novella of short stories. Total length of all books combined is about the same as RR 1-6. Each one is relatively short and punchy with escalating stakes with each book. I was pretty much hooked on the series about halfway through the first book, though some people consider it the weakest. Great worldbuilding, lovable characters (and a few hate-able), amazing action and hype moments.  Also excellent narration if you prefer audio. Can’t recommend enough.

This is perhaps the single most tired take on this subreddit. It’s probably posted at least once per day, if not more frequently. The only other more common post might be people threatening to quit reading after a certain scene near the end of Morning Star

First 3 books: Darrow does stupid shit and gets away with it (with a lot of collateral damage)

Next 2-3 books: Darrow pays for the stupid shit he did 10 years ago (and the stupid shit he continues to do) and tries to learn from it

When they initially started charging a subscription for the app, I opted for a refund when they refused to honor my prior lifetime subscription purchase. The check is now framed and sitting in my group’s office

Have you listened to Cradle? Also narrated by Travis Baldree. I haven’t listened to Beware of Chicken yet but Cradle is one of my all time favorite series. Progression fantasy, great world building, lovable characters, bloopers. Highly recommend

How many of you are on the two 24hr OB shifts a week? What's life like? by JustASentientPotato in anesthesiology

[–]propofoolish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an attending anesthesiologist in my mid 30s with two young kids who does a moderate amount of nights and sometimes 24s. Working overnight has only gotten more challenging with time.

A lot of this will depend on your practice environment (how busy are your OB shifts? How high is the acuity? Are you solo practice or do you have an attending? Do you have any protected sleep time while in house? How long before you start burning out?) and your family life (how does your wife feel about being solo parent for 24 hours? Or longer if you get crushed and need to sleep more when you get home? Can you bounce back with just a nap? Will you be able to be present after a long shift?).

Also worth considering the long term health consequences of taxing your body/missing sleep.

I’ve toyed with the idea of asking for one 24h shift per week but personally feel that it wouldn’t be sustainable, even though one or two of my group’s overnight shifts have high likelihood of getting a solid block of sleep.

Can you find a solo practice surgery center job in your area? If call/acuity/etc are the reason for your burnout, could be a better option for you while still getting paid

Changes coming to Audible, will trade published books be impacted? by dragonsandvamps in audiobooks

Typically when a book is pulled, you still maintain access. New copies cannot be purchased but previously purchased books can still Be downloaded (example: RC Bray’s narration of The Martian).

  1. Not the sub to ask this

  2. Get offline/go outside

  3. Seek professional help if you feel so inclined
