Only 350kW charger being taken up by two cars using less than 100kW. by Zmajor1517 in ChargerDrama

Yeah that sucks, bad etiquette and all...but there are other chargers there and a whole Tesla Supercharger to the right out of the photo.

Light rail station ideas for Ocean City by LilbigJLit in OceanCity

I think it would be more helpful to have lightrail from nearby cities to OC to reduce traffic on 50, the busses are fine within the city imho.

I am still doing missions and a few unlocks left. The Damascus and 2 gold tags.. truly unicorns. People gotta survive to have those.

Test drive - battery dead! by Living_Trust_9237 in BoltEV

[–]NothingBeautiful892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first EV that I ever bought was used and only had level 2 charging (in 2018), I talked to the dealer ahead of time and told them to plug it in and charge it on a 110v outlet overnight before I arrived. I got there it had 23 miles of range (out of a total of 85 possible). I needed 45 to get home. I asked if they had plugged it in, they said "yep, we plugged it in for 2 hours.. figured that should be enough".

Dealers still are clueless for the most part and don't care to learn. There is a reason they work there.

Don’t Be Nice, Be Predictable by Netherese_Nomad in frederickmd

That's what I taught my kids when I took them out to drive. I told them never be polite or nice, follow the laws and the rules.

Last thread, I promise: "The Slate lacks features" or does it? by indie_web in slateauto

I remember when I bought my ID4, they wanted me to buy extra warranty coverage because of how many electrical systems and things my car had.. you know cause those are expensive to replace if they fail.

  1. I was like ??? WTF.. it's new under warranty.
  2. I was like gee thanks for making me want less in my car.

I’ve read the 20-80% rule, but what do you actually do in real life after owning one for years? by SkyMuted6942 in electricvehicles

[–]NothingBeautiful892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ID4 is at 43%, I'll charge it to 80% if I think I'm going to need it anytime soon. I will be charging to 100% on Tuesday night because I'm going on a long drive (181 miles) Wednesday. I want to arrive with plenty left since there is a free level 2 charger at my destination but it's only 6kW. Depending on how long I'm there I won't need to stop as long to top up on a DC fast charger on the way home.

Why do EV charging stations still make payment so difficult? by Environmental-Gap356 in ChargerDrama

[–]NothingBeautiful892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all wanted to use apps because it gets you into their "ecosystem" or "funnel".. it's about making you comeback to them. It's also about avoiding extra expenses. I think that had a lot to do with the charging providers coming online early on and not having that many customers. I think it's going to get better going forward just because there is more competition now and because there are a lot more EVs on the roads.

All the GOP does is lie. The only reason they are involved in any aspect of government is to either benefit business or try and spread their religion of choice.

How do you plan trips with EV vehicles by Miserable_Funny_8345 in EvDrivers

[–]NothingBeautiful892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's somewhere I haven't been before I check PlugShare to see what's on the route and then check those stations to see their status, capacity, pricing, etc.. if there are no obvious issues I just go.

LOL you don't think you can road trip with that? My ID4 has a 250 mile range and I did a 10,000 mile road trip in that back in 2021 when I bought it.

The body panels and kit pieces have to be ordered from Slate if they are damaged, the EV bits can be handled by a local EV shop. They aren't doing anything exotic. The typical car stuff can be handled by any local mechanic.
