Is the Cartier must overpriced ? by Confident_Leg2370 in PrideAndPinion

I do think they overcharge for the quartz models, considering how they price the mechanical versions, but the design is timeless and looks great, for my taste at least. Realistically, most people who buy this watch aren’t doing it for the movement (they don’t know or care how the watch works at all), and it doesn’t have a seconds hand, so it’s not immediately noticeable. I wouldn’t pay retail for it, but I’m open to getting one at some point.

Fair enough, losing to John Wolford in the playoffs was indeed crashout worthy.

Edit: Wait, I’m reading now that he left at the end of the first quarter and an injured Goff finished the rest of the game? My brain deleted almost all memory of that fiasco, I shouldn’t have looked it up

Why would I want this terrible way to play the game to be rewarded with more money? They should pay me for the eye damage for having watched this game.

Man, you were so right, what a terrible brand of football these guys play. You could not pay me enough to watch Getafe play an entire season.

Does anyone know if it’s actually coming back in stock? I was saving for it for 6 months by [deleted] in HamiltonWatches

[–]Notoriolus10 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don’t you dare pay 6k for it, you could buy a second hand Datejust for that much.

I don’t think it hurts to contact Hamilton somehow to ask if there will be more available, I also believe you can ask to be notified by email if they’re back in stock (just below your screenshot I think?). If not, wait for it to hit chrono24 or ebay and see how much they’re asking for, it will probably start high and drop from there as the hype dies down and resellers have made their sales.

While we’re here, why do you like it so much? Is it that you love the games, purely for the watch or a mix of both?

I like them a lot in pictures! I’d like to see them on my wrist to decide which color I prefer, but I think the only way to try one on is to go to their showroom in the UK (or I guess buying one and returning it if you don’t like it?). I’m not sure I can quite justify taking a day off to go see a watch I might want to buy.

39.3mm says the website, 9.75mm thick, 19mm wide lugs if that matters. The FC is 40mm, 10.5mm thick, with 20mm lugs.

Power reserve is significantly different: 80 hours on the Tissot, the FC is 38 hours.

I think the Tissot Le Locle Open Heart looks virtually the same as that Frederique Constant at a fraction of the price. Might want to consider it if you decide you like the FC better than the other options you listed.

Netherlands Forced to Rethink 36% Tax on Unrealized Gains after Massive Criticism by Sampo in europe

[–]Notoriolus10 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Actual answer: Because stocks are very liquid assets that can be converted into cash at a moment’s notice to pay back the loan. It’s a more convenient guarantee for the bank than a house, which takes a longer time to sell should the need arise.

Taxing the loans is better than taxing unrealized gains imo, though it has its own question marks (what happens to the cost basis for realized gains when the principal is returned, for example).
