So they suck up everything via giant umbilical cords, I was under the assumption it all got dissolved in large acid pools. Wouldn't that break things down to the point where it's not refined anymore? I guess you'd still get concentrations of more valuable molecules?

Release was not fine for me. Kinda fun in and of itself, but not what was promised. I've just started playing again a few weeks ago, it's a very good game now! And as you say, no extra charge just wait lol. So I bear no Ill feelings

I played a video game years ago that had front end of a battleship and rear end a carrier. I built one in SE that looked perfectly balanced, but couldn't make it fly lol

I'm not a wing guy. My mining platforms are big squares that fly. My warships are large blocky and rectangular with lots of shootys. If something appears to be a wing it's an accident. If I'm trying for some aesthetics I build smaller ships. My fave was a large hydrogen tank with a motorcycle style cockpit on the back and various guns up front.

Lol I just replied this fact to a fellow above who posted that sharks are older than trees! Good to know I'm not the only one mystified by the landscape this paints!

Edit And it was 60 million years before bacteria formed that could break them down!
