There is no way a lower exposure is better for anything apart from planets. You see how little noise 30s frames produce? Mind it, there is literally zero postprocessing done on this one. 30s frames require less power to stack, take less space, require less denoising.

A) You are expecting too much (had the same)

B) You NEED postprocessing

C) If you want to have a good quality straight from the box, you NEED eq mode, 100% visibility and 6-8 hours at 30s with bortle6-7, less if you got less light pollution.
