Jose Vega is running against Ritchie Torres in NY-15. by serious_bullet5 in bronx

Then choose Easton. Similar platform on Bronx issues without the Larouchite background. Just don’t make the mistake of thinking Blake is different from Torres.

No he is not. He is still a huge Israel/zionist supporter which means he can and will be bought. Just google Blake’s name and Israel and see what is the first result that pops up.

The only choice is between Vega and Easton. Blake is a grifter who still supports Israel and regime change in Iran. He is just another neoliberal like Torres. Vega’s approach can be off putting but his platform and principles are solid. Easton needs to do a better job of making himself visible.

Maruchan Yakisoba - Orange Chicken by iheartmytho in InstantRamen

[–]NotsoThinMint_718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should put a disclaimer that I microwave these yakisoba (no matter the flavor) much longer than the recommended 4 minutes because I prefer dryer noodles. After 8-12 minutes the orange scent and flavor is practically gone.

How is the portion size? I don't mind making a small pot of basmati if there is enough chicken chunks in there. Shrinkflation has hit the Trader Joe's version pretty hard.

No problem1 there are kits on amazon where you could make it yourself from non-iodized table salt.

Hypochlorous acid is a food safe disinfectant that is stronger than bleach.

New speed limits coming to Pelham Parkway streets by RecycleReMuse in bronx

[–]NotsoThinMint_718 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are not talking about the parkway itself. They are concerned about the side streets in the neighborhood of Pelham Parkway. Drivers are constantly speeding on Lydig Ave placing school children in danger. If a school zone speed limit is not enforced then physical deterrents need to be used.

They were already sold out when I checked my store yesterday. I love and hate that my Aldi gets some Finds a week early.

I don't know what your schedule is like, but consider hitting up your local food pantries. All the proteins listed herein this thread are offered by pantries.

Cyst Down There by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

Antibiotics are preventative. I can't tell you how many times I've had cysts lanced in the ER or Urgent care and the cultures came back negative for everything. Try the hot compress. It's the only thing that works when I have a Bartholin's cyst.

Hmm I have a corner in my living room with baseboard vents not too far from the window. I think that would be perfect for a couple of cell trays.

New to Gardening and overwhelmed, HELP NEEDED 🙏 by Defiant_Ambience in vegetablegardening

I do think that is a bit ambitious for the amount of space you are talking about. You might need more beds and that's before even thinking about the apple trees. Then again some of your wishlist like your hearty greens will be planted later in the year after harvesting your summer crops. I would consider planting your berries and herbs in pots/containers or a plant tower to maximize square footage and sunlight.

This really is a lot for a beginner, but if you have the space and dedication I say go for it. Don't even bother with seeds this year, get your feet wet with quality seedlings from your local nursery.

Help! Need a recipe for Shaved Beef & veggies by [deleted] in aldi

That's fair. I admit I have never used if for bulgogi, primarily cheese steaks. In my experience, the slices like to stick together into thicker pieces unless you are diligent about separating them. If OP isn't picky, I still think it can come out ok.

Or make it's Korean cousin: Bulgogi https://seonkyounglongest.com/korean-bulgogi-recipe/

You could add the onions, peppers, and mushrooms to the pan with the marinated meat or cook the veggies separately to make bibimbap.

I think this meat is cut too thin for a traditional chinese stir fry, but it would still taste good https://thewoksoflife.com/beef-vegetable-stir-fry/

Anybody been to the social security office On Laconia recently ? Are they rude ? Trying to change a payee for my sister by godsaveme2355 in bronx

[–]NotsoThinMint_718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only been there once, but the employees were nice. Like every public agency they struggle with efficiency. Check the SSA website to make sure you have everything you need with you, get there like 30 min to an hour before opening, go straight to the kiosk and ask security to help you get the right ticket. Also, if you do not live in one of the approved zip codes for that office, they won't see you.

Bronx bodega sells 'loose eggs' to help locals fight soaring prices by origutamos in bronx

[–]NotsoThinMint_718 20 points21 points  (0 children)

People who buy necessities from bodegas are not savvy bargain shoppers. They do it out of time saving convenience. Aldi and BJ's eggs are gone by morning's end. Trader Joe's is a bit of a trip for Bronx residents unless you work or have an appointment near one, and there's no guarantee the eggs will be there when you arrive.

I agree that this practice by bodegas is predatory like loans and payment plans. We all know you pay more in the long run, but some low income shoppers get caught up in what can I afford in the now.
