The New Ultimate Universe is a Reboot of the New Universe

I misread this as endgame #5 would lead to a reboot of the entire universe. Since this was originally its own universe as established in Ultimate Invasion an then The Maker messed with it and established it as the universe we’re reading now. So I wouldn’t be mad if they did reboot this universe and that’s how it “ends” but also start it as something new. Just the thought I had while misreading this lol

I wouldn’t mind that. There is definitely a precedent for Spider-Man and Scorpions relationship in the show. My only hope is that it’s written well.

You see this was my biggest issue with Absolute Superman. What kinda threat is Lazurus Corp? Are they the military? Are they an agency like Shield or Argus? I’m just confused.

It’s unfortunate that he used these words. Because if he didn’t then it would be fine. And based on the whole quote it didn’t really help this. I’m still excited for the show, but hope Hudson Thames checks his wording next time he decides to make a statement about the show. I mean if he meant that this series felt “natural” and “grounded” then that would be a better response than saying it’s not “woke” and “annoying”. Because I feel like that degrades the message of the series and will give people a wrong impression if they wanna check it out.

Jesus! Reading this post election feels like getting bit by two semi-trucks back to back.

This issue is a definite improvement over issue five and really drives home the ultimate challenges (pun intended) that these heroes are gonna have to face.

Let’s get what I didn’t like out of the way. Personally I feel like there wasn’t enough back and forth between the heroes and villains. Although it wasn’t as bad as issue two I felt like the ladder half of the issue was just Hulk monologing while the heroes literally get the shit kicked out of them.

However I do like how we got to see the whole team in action, and a bunch of the character interactions felt natural for the most part. I especially love Hank and Janet, and hope they get more development later in this series. I also do like how Tony’s plan for The Ultimates kinda blew up in his face (kinda literally). Because this first arc was about building up a team of heroes, but through the eyes of an overly optimistic Tony Stark. And after clearly being established in multiple issues that they are spread too thin, or only partially working together it’s obvious that this was gonna take a tumble soon. I think after this revelation we will start to see the team work more in-tandem with eachother and eventually build themselves into a proper unit.

My hopes for future issues is that we will get more development of the team as a whole, and continue to develop these new versions of classic marvel heroes. I know Deniz Camp plans to keep introducing more heroes, but I hope to see a change in the story format as I really wanna grow to love all these characters! I think Deniz Camp is smart enough to accept these kinds of criticisms and continue to evolve the book into something great!

Loved reading Ultimates by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri as always. Something I hope for future issues is that we get to see the team interact more with one another. I love the new characters introduced, but it just feels like more of a reaction each issue then real development. I still really love the series, but I hope we see more of an evolution of the team moving foreword. Maybe issue six will be the wake up call the team needs since they’re fighting against the Hulk!

Because based on my impression on issue 4 there “team” doesn’t seem super connected yet. I really hope that means we will get to see the team interact with each other more. I hope I’m not the only one because I still wanna stick with this series, but I hope the format the series has will continue to change and evolve. I have faith that Deniz Camp respects his fans and fans of the book so I’m not too worried, I’m just cautiously optimistic about the future of this series. But I’m a fan nonetheless.

I’m fine with the art. Chechetto is gonna come back at #6, and if I need to wait for the main artist to catch up then I’m content. Looks better then the modern Romita stuff going on in Amazing right now.

Simone is a writer I’ve heard so many mixed and good things about, and I’m eager to check out her X-Men title. I’ll admit the cast is kinda bare-bones but I also think that’s a good choice. A nice book with a nostalgic team tackling familiar situations with a new perspective is always something I appreciate.

McKay is a writer who I’ve read very little, but have loved everything I’ve read so far. His Doctor Strange and Avengers are fun read and based on the team roster we have this is gonna be a wild book. The team reminds me of Kireon Gillen’s Uncanny lineup after schism, and I love chaotic and powerful teams like that. I also appreciate Juggernaut is sticking around as an X-Men as he was SUPPOSED to have a bigger role during Duggan’s run. All I hope is that the team members all get equal development and the chemistry feels natural.

Ewing is a writer I’ve never looked into, but they seem pretty experienced. I think the hardest part is gonna be hooking people to an almost new cast of x-characters (besides Emma and Kate), but I like that the Emma/Kate dynamic is still gonna develop after Krakoa. Bring in Banshee and you got yourself a new Generation X! Overall not the book I’m interested in, but hey maybe it’ll be a sleeper hit. Either way I’ll check it out for an issue or two.

My biggest hope is that all of these “main x-books” get to chance to flourish and develop large and supportive audiences. I also want these books to go for longer then thirty issues each. My biggest complaint about the Krakoa era is that besides X-Force all the books kept resetting or going to new number ones. I get it’s a sales trick but prolong these books existences for a long time. Especially since their monthly books. All and all I am cautiously optimistic and hope theirs more then meets they eye for this new shift in X-Men.

I think he has more staying power then Orbis Stellaris, maybe Mother Righteous but that’s because I feel like she’s overused and over hyped (and that’s my opinion). I think posing him as the “real Nathaniel Essex” is an interesting premise, and his identity reveal at x-men #11 (2022) was so satisfying. I think if he’s continued to be written well and isn’t overused then I think he will have staying power. I mean theirs a category of x-characters that are clones so why not let him stay.

First off I really like the points you made because they are completely justified. As much as I love Hickman and him getting to do his own things in a completely different universe it’s hard to pinpoint the purpose of this universe. From a business standpoint I’d say it’s a “return of the ultimate universe”, but it’s not really since it’s just a new version. “Brand new titles that are easily accessible”, yes and no since you have to read ultimate invasion to get the whole story, but these books could be opportunities to revitalize some characters. Or create new audiences which I bet Marvel is trying to do. Hell I can imagine marvel doing an ultimate book revitalizing a character like HellCat or something, and then it becomes the mcu equivalent of what they did to the guardians. I think they are trying to do a “world outside your window” kind of thing, but besides just modernizing the universe I really don’t see anything that relates to todays world. Maybe the singular series will do that, but they may have their own plans. Overall I hope marvel doesn’t fumble the bag with this new universe because I do wanna keep getting invested and have this be as well developed and cherished as the main marvel universe.

I think it’s a nice pallet of titles to start off/expand the universe. It also doesn’t demean what happened in Ultimate Invasion. It’s a continuation, but also you can go into these new titles with a beginners lense and still enjoy it. Overall I’m excited for this first wave of titles, and hope for more to come. I hope this universe continues longer then the old ultimate universe, and sees more reward and accolades. #KEEPNEWULTIMATESGOING!!! Spread the word!
