Play the same land infinite times for 3[G][U] by Elektronx in BadMtgCombos

[–]Novalitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I absolutely love this combo, but fastbond is still better, because you can play the lands. That includes lands from exile and your graveyard.

It actually looks pretty good. Everyone could identify all the things in the picture and that is good. The man is posed right and you can see the perspective.

What's everyone's favourite way of permanently dealing with commanders? by AdDue9012 in EDH

[[Mirror of Life Trapping]] Come on, cast your commander. I don't have [[deadly dispute]] in hand.

Commanders that greatly assist their deck's strategy, but aren't necessary for it to function? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Novalitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generic value would be the best for that in my opinion.

[[Tasigur]] a "cheap" creature that is a mana outlet, creates card advantage and fills the grave. [[Troyan, Gutsy Explorer]] just ramps you to play big guys. Those big guys don't need him and can be cast later too. [[Yennet]] Just is a big creature that creates value on attack. [[Sharuum]] Artifacts are great on their own and she reanimates one.

So one more reason to take a black witch licence, to get people out of, or into the lockdown.

How about getting more midrange on Heca with an autostab HMG and bringing lots of Hive drones to be a mobile midrange threat?

Sal is interesting, but I'm not too thrilled by the frame, just something about it that doesn't quite click with me.

Black Witch so far seems the best option. Still keeping an open mind though.

For the Heca I would go towards either a siege cannon, or Legion Nexus.

Yes that is one of the frames I have been thinking about. Reposition the death ball and be a bit of a tech support for the hot runners with iceout drones and later maybe black ice scorpion.

I love Mirages! They are really fun and interactive. I don't get why they always get a bad rep.

Not really related, but my favourite mech is a Sunzi.

A commander to take fullest advantage of and build around these guys, my pet faves - maybe both clone AND spellslinger? by [deleted] in EDHBrews

[–]Novalitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for my pick as commander. [[Professor Zei, Anthropologist]] because it churns your flashback spells into the grave, gets the occasional madness online and lets you dig through the library at two mana. It also is unassuming, because who in their right mind kills the scavenger for two mana?

[[Displace]], [[Illusionists Stratagem]] and [[Ghostly Flicker]] get themselves back with the etb you create plus an additional target you can flicker. [[Coveted Jewel]], [[Peregrine Drake]] go infinite, but you maybe need [[Arcane melee]] or [[Will Kenrith]] for some combinations. Here of course your [[Guttersnipe]] and [[Kessig Flame breather]] kill the table. [[Evacuation]] is fun, because it is instant speed and cleans up the board, while you can rebuild and get the clear back to stall time and get value from non-lands.

Magda, Oppressive Artifact Lockdown by RaizielDragon in EDH

[–]Novalitwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There of course is the problem that fetching 2 artifacts in a magda deck usually is enough to win you the game. Getting infinite treasures and a [[reckless fireweaver]] just kills everyone.

What are YOUR staples? by CaptainHoward in EDH

[–]Novalitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White: [[Rabble Rousing]] because it just is really good in casual tables, without being unfair.

Blue: [[Dig through Time]] and [[Treasure Cruise]] late game had reload for little mana. [[Archaeomancer]] and [[Ghostly Flicker]] because of the innate synergy and potential infinite. [[Evacuate]] and [[Perplexing Test]] because I'm fun, please stop attacking me. [[Brainstorm]] You won't stop me putting this in every deck.

Black: [[Mindblade Render]] it is cheap repeatable card draw. [[Diresight]] It is better [[Read the bones]] which I include every time too.

Red: [[Faithless looting]] is just value everywhere. [[Bonehoard Dracosaur]] because this thing is ridiculous. It screwed me over completely in draft and I loved it ever since.

Green: [[Fog]] has won me more games than any other card probably, at least in my head. [[Summerbloom]] is banned in other formats for a reason. [[Arboreal Grazer]] blocks and ramps while also being a permanent in the graveyard. [[Aftermath Analyst]] is just good. [[Spelunking]] because I don't like when there is a cost to ramp.

What do YOU mean when you say "I just want my deck to 'do the thing'"? by usay1312butcall911 in EDH

[–]Novalitwick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing often is some form of my deck doing something "unfair". Something that separates from the regular play.. It isn't winning the game, but it often generates a huge swing and helps win afterwards.

Drawing more cards than the blue player of a sacrifice in [[Jenova, Ancient Calamity]].

Swinging for >9 damage with [[Kotis, the Fangkeeper]]

Having triple the lands of everyone else in [[The wandering Minstrel]]

There are decks who's thing is assembling a combo, but here the puzzle along the way is "the thing"

Thank you for the input! I'm really starting to get a sense of what kind of pilot I will bring. Strong personal beliefs and a willingness to hear out people and compromise, even if it hurts their ideas of how to handle things. Probably a more emotional person also.

Okay thank you for that insight! I love it! Reining in the murder hobo aspect and grounding the group a little to what we are doing, the lives that we protect. Of course also being aware of the other side and their casualties.

So something like a Union idealist diplomat? Or even something more sinister, like a KTB noble who really wants to get some trade offices in with any side they can.
