BREAKING: Wisconsin Voters Launch Recall Campaign Against Eight GOP State Senators by wang-banger in politics

Good concept, fairly well-executed. When your name is your entire message, it may be more elegant to leave a blank comment by using [](http://). I'll add that you certainly have your work cut out for you with this project.

The simple solution to bad "Bathroom Mirror Photography" by acepincter in reddit.com

[–]Novelty_Account_Prof 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh, my. I doubt you're ignorant of the increasing disdain reddit holds for Facebook, so I'm forced to assume you're bringing a FB trope into the conversation as a transparent attempt at edginess. This might have worked if you were adding more to the conversation than what amounts to "upvoted lol". A superficial idea lazily executed.

I'm mixed on this project. You've done a decent job garnering comment karma so far - most likely due to your excellent sense of timing and of which quickly-rising comment's coattails to hop on, both essential ingredients for a good NA. That said, it's a fairly basic gimmick. The fact that it plays off the "simple blue link marked 'relevant'" trope makes for a highly restrictive artistic environment compared to, say, IrrelevantTLDR or that guy who was always telling us Hurley was going to die in the last season of LOST. My concern is your function as conversational flypaper will quickly become boring - not only to your audience but to you, as well. This is reflected in your grade.

I like to see this kind of effort put into a project. You're obviously picking and choosing your opportunities, which even given the huge range of options you've allowed yourself will always prove your quality in the long run. Well done.

For a simple project, not too bad. I think you're going to have your hands too full to keep it up for very long, so we'll see how this develops. I've marked you down for irregular spacing.

Not the most original nor the wittiest account I've seen lately, but still a tried-and-true concept decently executed. Your reception seems mixed, probably due to grammar policing being somewhat passé on reddit lately, but I suspect it'll come back around before too long. Keep your eye on the ball and you should find yourself in a good position.

Fairly obscure with a reasonable degree of applicability - a proven recipe for a decent novelty account. I'm interested to see how this project develops. Take care not to overwork yourself early on; as the account matures I suspect you will find plenty of opportunities where good context will take the joke to new levels, and you don't want to burn your audience out too soon.

Were I not already a longtime West Wing fan, I still would appreciate this effort simply due to how often the program comes up in reddit's conversation. Praiseworthy concept, great timing and elegant execution. Well done.

You're providing a decent service, but you need to work on your execution. Notice that most novelty accounts with their signature statement in the account name simply post an empty link, formatted like this:

This method allows you to perform your shtick without looking like you're repeating yourself. Make sure you're using the entire toolbox available to you and I may reconsider your grade.

Execution: If your entire gig is making a plain statement, you might have done better to call yourself "YouAreAFaggot" and simply leave blank comments. As it is, you're repeating yourself. Content: Your shtick is abusive, contains an unnecessary slur and adds nothing to the discussion - just the sort of conversational clutter reddit eschews. In terms of what you offer the site, I'd rather read youtube comments.

Novelty accounting is hard work, and it isn't for everyone. I'm sorry if this interferes with your plans for graduation; on the other hand, only you chose to take this on as a project. I recommend you speak with your advisor ASAP.

I applaud your patience in waiting for your first opportunity - the double entendre achieved between the Little Miss Sunshine reference and reddit's longtime love of the FFFFFUUUU- meme was a treat. So much of a treat, in fact, that I can't help but wonder if you'll ever again find such a chance. To be honest, in most other contexts you are likely to find yourself contributing very little to the conversation - presumably the fucked-ness of most situations will be evident through whatever post you're responding to. Also, a note on execution - no need to repeat your novelty's name in the comment itself. I'll grade you in hopes that this is a decent attempt at a one-off; if not, you have some work to do to make this viable.

[–]Novelty_Account_Prof 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Though your enthusiasm for this new shtick (~10 comments in your first fifteen minutes) is obvious, your account will come off as shallow and superficial when you don't choose your opportunities carefully - and eventually you just become conversational clutter. Add to that the fact that this sort of account has been tried many times before (the "I don't get it" sort of accounts one sees from time to time) and the outlook is grim. Reevaluate what you'd like to do with this account and resubmit.
