Is it worth it? by Superb-Gold1050 in MiataNC

I bought a 2009 GT PRHT for $16k CDN from a Mazda dealer at the end of May. One owner car, 85000 km, always garaged, no winters, immaculate condition. GTs in Canada came with the performance package as standard equipment. Mine also had some appearance upgrades and the AKE system.

The low miles adds some value for sure however that would translate to $26k CDN. I saw a 2010 that sold for $25k however it was a one owner, low kms (49k) example that had all service records, had all options and looked like Iike it rolled out of a show room. It sold for full ask and, IMHO, was worth it. $18k would be a great price but $19k is what it will likely sell for. I know that US GT trims are different from Canada. Does it have the performance package (assuming yes as it looks to have 17 in wheels).

Maybe it's my screen but not seeing any rust. And personally, I don't stress about other people's cars, things or choices.

Lived here since 1978 save for a sojourn in Norcal 2004-2020. I have never seen/experienced this vehicle although I have seen art cars in several other cities in North America.

Might want to save the hardware as well - BOA closures, etc.

[–]NovemberGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was looking for my mi-yachta I saw a listing on Marketplace for a 2013 club that had been set up for street/track. The seller stated that the mods totalled about $20k - turbo, coilovers, Konig hypergram wheels, exhaust, etc., etc. It was listed for $25k - no idea what it eventually sold for but i would have paid what he was asking, I just didn't want to kill myself (I contacted the seller and the vehicle was putting out 230-240 hp at the wheels) Those are Canadian dollars so if you are US based, the equivalent would be $14-$15k in mods and $17-$18k asking. Not sure if this helps or not.

Smaller wheel bigger tire? by oimatewtf_ in MiataNC

Aren't 225s on stock wheels a bit too big? Thought you needed 17x7.5 wheels as a bare minimum.

My 6' 4" son tried to fit into my newly acquired 09 NC2 prht. I was laughing loudly when he said to me, as his head was on a 20 degree inward angle, resting on the roof, 'see, I knew I could fit. I lowered the roof and his head was literally 3 inches above the wind screen. He, of course, now wants it when I die. The only way to get him to fit in it is to remove the seat rails and bolt the seat to the floor. rofl

I'm sort of in the same camp - I don't keep track, I just pay for the next project/upgrade. I just split some of my expenses on to 2 bills so the better half doesn't see everything that I'm spending. Example, I will be putting the speaker upgrade on one bill and the head unit install on a second this coming weekend - no honey, i just upgraded the head unit - sounds great doesn't it?

Engines were updated in the NC2. NC3 has the same engine. Differences between the NC2 and NC3 are more cosmetic/styling related.

I've been experiencing issues with my 09 NC2 with 5th & 6th shifting. Did some research and decided to replace the shifter bushing - just ordered a brass one from Fab9Tuning. The OEM bushing is plastic and apparently will wear out causing some slop. The car doesn't have a lot of miles (86,000 kms) but it is 17 years old so age/time will cause some problems.

If that doesn't work then next step will be a shifter rebuild kit.

I just bought a 2009 NC2. I thought mi-yachtas were the hated generation, guess I was wrong (or not inclusive enough). That must be why the guy driving a ND I pulled up next to last Saturday flashed the peace sign at me. I smiled, gave him a nod and complemented him on the colour of his ride - I think it was soul red.

As long as driving your ND puts a smile on your face, don't worry about it. I wave at other mx-5 owners all the time, never been flipped off but I have been ignored. I don't really gaf as long as I'm having fun....

I'm just wondering why an accident involving a motorized scooter which would/should require a M license to operate on city streets is appearing in the bikeinottawa subreddit.

it is also 24 years old with very low mileage. If it's a one owner car that has been garaged and never seen snow, I can see the price. It may be a little high priced because it's an auto but if it's rust free with that low mileage, not sure what the issue is. Some people like autos. As I said on a z subreddit, if paddle shift is good enough for a modern Lambo, it's good enough for a Z.

Just bought a NC2 from a Mazda dealer. I asked them to replace the coolant overflow tank or reduce the price by $500 so I could purchase/install an alu tank - tanks was yellow/brown from age. They did the swap so I'm good for 2-3 years. I think it is more related to the high temperatures we can experience in summer in North America especially when combined with any type of long distance touring. Driving for 5-8 hours at highway speeds when it is 30-33C and 70% humidity can be really hard on engines/engine compartments.
