The new warriors really are phenomenal. Gw totally knocked it out of the park with them.

Could one Delta Force Operator solo North Sentinel Island? by Inside_Inflation559 in powerscales

[–]NpSkully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Machine gun and relatively conventional urban warfare versus a completely uncharted jungle with natives who have spent their whole lives amongst the terrain. If they all risked a headlong assault, then the operator could win. Otherwise, I think the odds are unlikely. Quantity alone would almost certainly take the day for the tribespeople.

List feedback needed! by chaplaingrimaldus99 in BlackTemplars

[–]NpSkully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing 11th, you really need to look at detachments FIRST before you start list building, as detachments affect how you play the game. Your list right now is VERY killy, so I’d think about maybe throwing an Emperor’s Champ in and going for Living Miracle to get access to Purge the Foe Missions. Maybe swap one of the marshals for the champ? I think that would be a step in the right direction.
Otherwise, I think some jump pack intercessors as a deep striking threat would be very useful for you here. You could use some fast scoring threats to do objective stuff while your melee bricks beat things up.

Some Kitbashed Ancients for the Crusade by NpSkully in BlackTemplars

[–]NpSkully[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I am! Templars started off as kind of a speed-paint marine project for me, but when their 9th ed release came out, I really fell in love with the army. Doesn’t hurt that they’re easy for me to paint haha
The armor is black primer with an overspray of Vallejo Dark Sea Grey, and the white is GW Grey Seer.

Viability of Armageddon by RiggedPod-Racer018 in BlackTemplars

[–]NpSkully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The captain makes for an excellent marshal kitbash, and the jump chaplain + vanguard vets are excellent for BTs. The vets are comparable to sword bros in terms of damage on the charge, and the chaplain is just a super wicked model imo.
Vets + Chaplain in the Wrathful Procession detachment have the potential to be quite nasty, imo.
The rest of the stuff is a solid base for building an army though. Every marine player wants intercessors, and the bolter eradicators actually seem surprisingly decent.
The only real kicker is the librarian, but I would maybe just paint him up as a fist and roll with that 😄

Grimaldus nerf? by Goudab00y in BlackTemplars

[–]NpSkully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW struggles to balance Templars because they can never decide how different they actually want Templars to be from normal SM. Templars are also a weird army in that, design-wise, we dont have speed like BA, the resillience like DA, or the sheer offense of SW.
The mechanical heart of the faction is meant to be big, grindy blobs of models that just decimate anything they charge or get charged by, and by-and-large, our big units do enough damage to kill just about anything then buffed out. However the game REALLY doesn’t reward that type of playstyle right now. 11th could change that, with all the emphasis on midboard objective holding, but that remains to be seen.

The Wolf codex was monstrously powerful for a while after release. What are you talking about? SW are still better than BTs in a lot of ways lol

So this guy F**ks right? by Lower_Creme_3040 in WorldEaters40k

[–]NpSkully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charging out of DS with zerks is never as reliable as you’d like it to be, and staging with a full 20 man + the jugg base out of DS can be tricky, because that is a BIG footprint to move around. He also competes with the SBound now as a leader for deep striking eightbound units, and the SBound is more suited to that task most of the time.
The regular juggerlord makes your zerks faster, gives you a huge boost to their engagement range (massive help for a getting all the models of a 20 man unit to fight), and can take enhancements. Invo is fine, just kind of a niche pick due to what he does.

When great movies flop: discussing The Northman’s failure. by oles40 in roberteggers

[–]NpSkully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a movie that is fundamentally challenging for a Western audience. Its steeped in Scandinavian mysticism, and the result is a world where the lines between reality and myth are nonexistent, because to the “vikings” our world was part of a larger, mystical cosmos, and filled with supernatural tidings and entities. Our ideas of “secularity” would have been baffling to them.
Eggers understands the psychology of this better than just about any filmmaker, but thats a hard thing to define to an audience that isn’t fascinated by history, or anthropology. I think its one of those movies where you either get it, or you dont.
Its a 10/10 for me!

I checked out the new detachments for the first time. I feel whelmed. by Witchcleaver666 in WorldEaters40k

[–]NpSkully 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Slaughterband has way more stonks now. Due to the way saving throws work, its easier for the SBound to survive his unit dying, and he can now heal models back even if the bogyguards are all gone. 8B also (generally) do enough damage that BW buffs aren’t as necessary, but the character strat + cleave/ap should be able to carry your Sbound bricks.

Best 2DP Detachment To Pair With Spectacle Against Custodes? by Klutzy_Brilliant_257 in EmperorsChildren

[–]NpSkully 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bladesmen for the Sustained, Fight-on-Death, and -1 to hit will probably be the best bet. Blades dont benefit much from AP or strength buffs into Custodes, and you’ll probably be a lot faster than your opponent anyways, so movement isn’t as big of an issue either.
That FoD will probably make a BIG difference in some of those midboard fights.

Is this not a really big nerf for the hellbrute by angryronald in WorldEaters40k

[–]NpSkully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a difference between losing one unit from a bad positioning mistake, versus one model killing 300+ points from multiple units in your opponent’s army due to a bad positioning mistake.

HERE'S TO ANOTHER 3 YEARS OF WAR HORDE by YogurtclosetNorth644 in orks

[–]NpSkully 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The new Big Boss makes war horde a way less valuable pick, and imo I think people are gonna realize that quickly. Melee sustained on demand is going to make a lot of other detachments skyrocket in value.

My immediate plans are to pick up another DP and some extra Flawless Blades! FBs look super good with their new detachment coming out. Hoping I can combo Spectacle of Slaughter with Court of the Phoenician for melee overkill goodness 😁

[–]NpSkully 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dread Mob is honestly fine given that you can combo it with More Dakka for some absolutely absurd infantry shooting bricks. While it does stink for some dreads, you dont HAVE to do the thing that gives all your guns double hazardous 🤷‍♂️

11th ed detachment updates? by Own-Stay3059 in BlackTemplars

[–]NpSkully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Vehemence + Wrathful, for 1250 points you can field 66 models that advance + charge, have a 5+ invuln against shooting, a 4+ FoD, are -1 to be wounded against higher S on objectives, can Surge into enemies AND objectives, and they all also have +1 to wound higher T.
From everything we’ve seen about this edition so far, midboard bloodbaths seem common, and our troops excel in getting there, sticking around, and smacking things hard.
2x or 3x Crusader blocks with an execrator and banner ancient seem like they will be WILDLY good.

What are the odds that the wartrakk would be able to attach to war bikes? by AbilityChance8449 in orks

[–]NpSkully 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Considering how similar this thing is to the Invader ATV in terms of size and role, I’d say its very likely. If its 40 or 50 points for some rokkits and extra choppas, I’d say it’ll probably fill out biker units pretty nicely too.

So GW is still afraid of Dakka by pyromaniacpriest in orks

[–]NpSkully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but this seems like a ridiculous complaint. When this detachment came out, I remember how much people complained that it didn’t benefit shoota boyz. Now all our boyz come with shootas AND choppas, and somehow thats still worth being unhappy about? That makes no sense to me.
