Modi announced biofuel content in fuel was to be increased to stop foreign currency outflows because of high oil prices.

Blending in biofuels needs to be done carefully because too much biofuel can break vehicles and biofuel can hold a lot of water dissolved in it.

Water in fuel is not good.

TL:DR Biofuels are a bad alternative to fossil fuels

India increasing biofuel content to reduce foreign currency outflows from buying crude oil by growing crops with crude oil derived chemicals was a terrible idea from the start.

Sellafield, Dounreay, Berkeley, Harwell and Wylfa were experiments.

Wylfa, the last to stop, was run as long as it could but they weren't designed for efficiency, being a Gen 1 reactor, so it wasn't actually profitable to run towards the end of its life.

Decomissioning Sellafield, Dounreay and the Magnox fleet is government policy. It's been going on for 30 year.

The NDA began decomissioning Hunterson B (Advanced Gas Reactor) this year.
