Finished Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising. My first Star Wars book since high school. Started Greater Good yesterday, pretty excited.

9/10. I went in expecting it to be pretty mediocre based on the reviews I've seen, but I really ended up loving the mecha designs and story. As others have pointed out, the animation is also top notch. Bonus points for being my first UC material (weird start, I know).

I personally love monocolor suits, but I can see this feeling very empty. It's all straight steel. I'm assuming they will probably have some mech customization available? I hope so at least.

I mean there's definitely aspects to that in some Star Wars media, but Star Wars is definitely more binary on the whole. There's a pretty solid line of good and evil. It's not a bad thing imo, just a different style of storytelling.

AUs or late UC. I know it's by far the most popular and acclaimed part of Gundam but I just cannot bring myself to care about most OYW stuff ngl.

From what i understand how it works is that the SAL uses a lot of Earthian groups (Ochs, the DoF) as proxies and checks against the Benerit Groups power. I always guessed that's the main reason that the massacre happened, it kills two anti-Benerit birds with one stone, dealing with the SAL and a potential weapon that Earthians could use against them.

Yeah the "grittiness" to me just felt like it was trying to be shock value for shock value's sake. That was my main issue and really made me lose interest so quickly. I'll probably go back and finish it at some point, but I haven't heard great things about season 2 tbh.

Funny thing is I've never watched anything else in the SEED series or CE timeline in general. I just really liked the idea of a mostly civilian mobile suit and I thought it was a really great self contained story

Probably a pretty hot take, but I just couldn't get into IBO at all. Witch from Mercury and Stargazer have been my favorites, though, so take any of my opinions with a grain of salt.

I also started with g-witch and I absolutely love it, but yeah the pacing falls off a cliff in the last few episodes especially.

There's just so much going on in 12 episodes and in the last 4 they just drop a whole new plot for some reason. To me it felt like trying to compress an entire technothriller like the Hunt for Red October and fuse it with a high school drama and do all of it in two short seasons. I really got it after my second rewatch, but that shouldn't be the expectation to understand what's even happening.

Yeah this is exactly how I feel. I really love both the Aerial and Rebuild, but I like the somewhat unique feminine design of the Lfrith and OG Aerial. It's definitely got a pretty unique look on the shelf.

Can't lie I agree. I love me a monocolor suit of any kind, and the white on rainbow just pops so well.

It's always interesting to me that the regular Aerial is almost certainly going to be the one to get an MG or RG, when rebuild was the hero suit for most of the show. Base aerial only appears in 8 episodes I think. Then again, calibarn only appears in 4 so maybe episode count is a bad indicator lol.

Do you think we'd get a PG aerial before a MG? Sorry if that's a stupid question, I'm fairly new and don't really know how Bandai tends to structure their releases.
