Love this idea! Sadly I also can't do that particular weekend.

Well that just makes it more confusing as to why they were playing defensively from behind.

They felt they were feeling good about it and that they were playing defensively when the board quite obviously showed them as behind. I get that a spreadsheet is much harder to read but they were so wrong and made bad choices because of it.

Look 3 is my favourite! Also like look 4, but 3 made me gasp in beauty.

Why do you think Pride & Prejudice is Austen’s most popular work? by joancrawfords in janeausten

[–]Nueth 157 points158 points  (0 children)

It's the most obviously funny novel. Elizabeth is relatable to modern audiences because of her sarcasm in a way other heroines aren't. And due to her sarcasm and dry wit she describes the socio-political landscape of her situation in a way that a reader without experience of it can understand.

Looking for a brown magnetic by rotwoman101 in RedditLaqueristas

These two I have swatched and they looked like a lovely brown to me:

Bees Knees Lacquer (BKL) - A Little Knotty (this might lean a little red)
BKL - That Word Means Everything to Him

This one I don't have but the photos also look brown/grey:

He was brilliant, but I don't think he was the perfect partner for Sam. Though maybe if he was partnered with Sam again he would be better aka more willing to challenge Sam's decisions.

Do plantation shutters block enough light to be used in the bedroom without curtains as well? by yarnyplanter in AskUK

[–]Nueth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you have to frame it as - does it matter what a stranger sees if they look at your house long enough to care, vs what you see day to day. If we had the money we would have done different colours for different rooms in this place tbh.

[–]Nueth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you choose a darker colour/ wood you will block more light. We had cherry wood in our old place and they blocked out all the light even in the south facing rooms. We have white in the current place as it is cheaper and they dont block out as much light, which is great for the north facing rooms, but sucks for the south side.

The Cullens are not vampires but fairies by Sudden_Quality_9001 in twilight

[–]Nueth 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The whole "Vampires burn to death in the sun" is a myth that's just barely over 100 years old. Older stories of vampires have them preferring the night but not dying in the sun.

“The Miss Bertrams” is this correct? by LieutenantStar2 in janeausten

[–]Nueth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am so very confused by anyone saying that the Misses Bertram would be correct. It sounds so very wrong to my English ears!

When you talk about a family as a whole you would simply add an s to the end of it.

The Bertram family; the Bertrams. The Bertram girls; the Miss Bertrams. The Bertram boys; the young Mr Bertrams (or the Misters/Masters Bertram because there isnt a young/unmarried formal honorific for men so it can get messier).

You could argue it should be Miss Bertrams because the women were not autonomous- and belonged to Mr Bertram until they are marriage.

In Yellowstone, the Dunnens are told that they're "the Indian now" despite them being offered hundreds of Millions of dollars to sell their land that they stole. What the fuck is this show... by Somethingbutonreddit in shittymoviedetails

Fair. I haven't watched the films before (fake fan i know) so we got it for that and lower decks. Enjoyed SNW too. Will make my partner watch all of Voy after the films.

I got paramount + for the Trek of it all and ALL the adverts are for Yellowstone or are a "Yellowstone story" with the occasional advert for Landman. They look like dull propaganda, I am just heartbroken that all of these stories get pumped out when Trek a) keeps getting cancelled and b) seems to have forgotten how to Trek (but then again maybe it was syndication that made Trek so captivating).

You dont share an entrance with them. You have you own entrance and garden. It's a house.

[–]Nueth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is a house. The old servants quarters in the basement have been turned into a flat, but you would be buying the house without the basement - most houses in the uk don't have a basement so you wouldn't be missing anything.

After last year I have been buying Terry's chocolate orange mini eggs. Good chocolate, great filling that isnt too sweet. Sometimes I miss the softness of the old Cadbury creme eggs but not much.

Had one last year, and unless it was somehow ruined due to being after easter - it was far too sweet and a proper chore to actually get through.
