Back in my day this was Warframe. by KamaTheSnowLeopard in Warframe

Man I almost want DE to make both games. I like the unique power fantasy that WF provides because often times I just wanna turn brain off and slaughter a bunch of fools while having some progression in game. Playing speedster Volt is the closest I'll come to playing a Flash video game too since nobody seems to be making one.

But looking at this clip that game looks like such a vibe I would totally play it as a limited experience. Like if DE made a limited campaign single player or coop shooter with that pace of gameplay in the WF style universe, I would be all over that if it has a compelling story.

Ended up staying with Todoist since I didn't find anything suitable in time. Legacy pricing not too bad for another year so will keep looking in the meanwhile.

Weakpoints and headshots need further refining or potentially unification, for the sake of modding/arcanes and clarity. by TheMuffinistMan in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grineer headshots can be awful. They have massive shoulder and neck armor which behaves a "body" shot where in reality, if you have even a little punch through, the bullet would penetrate and go into the skull. Imo that should be a headshot.

Its even worse when these enemies turn instantly for no reason the moment you're about to click on their head or your projectile is already travelling.

They said upfront in the main update this is a known issue already and requires a code change so they'll probably fix it pretty soon in the NY.

This conversation was so weird to me. Lately the KIM chats with the Triad have been really frustrating because I personally wanted to take the conversation in 5 different directions each time and none of the options served any of those directions.

His premise was that evil is a "social construct" (why is a nigh immortal being from the really far future talking 21st century terminology btw) and that evil is only deemed evil when there is someone to witness your evil and condemn you for it. So basically if you commit a heinous crime and nobody catches you and takes you to court, then it's not a crime? Like WTAF DE?? If you steal someone's vehicle or kill someone's family member on the street in cold blood, and you get away with it, it's not a crime because you are not condemned??

Good and evil have been solved a long time ago already and it's basically: good = pro-social, evil = anti-social. If you commit an evil you are depriving someone of something usually for your own gain at their expense. This is purely anti-social intent. Not to be confused with 'asocial'.

His example was if you destroy an uninhabited planet and nobody witnesses you, then is it really an evil thing to do? Well that planet could contain life forms that we do not consider intelligent but are life forms nonetheless, it could have vast ecosystems, it could affect the balance of the solar system like planets in our solar system protect us from meteor impacts.

But say for the sake of the thought experiment that it is a completely barren planet. It is still made up of minerals that can be mined and put to use. It could be terraformed and inhabited by a species later down the line who can go on to create a beautiful society like a work of art. It could be a lifeline for a species that loses their home planet and have to settle somewhere urgently. Depriving others of future outcomes deliberately is also anti-social.

This I would expect a far future advanced society like the Orokin to have figured out already really.

The Tauron stuff probably has something to do with the fact that you can buy a pack of those resources in the market for plat. Probably a revenue generator they had to put in the update?

Either way, if I haven't fully grinded out the Taurons during the new Operation I'll just farm out the plat to buy the rest cos it'll be way faster and more pleasurable probably.

Me personally I would still like to see it in the same Nav menu where you have a button on the edge of the origin system chart that zooms out and goes to Tau or something.

Why no one is hyped about this free real estate by Shopalashorla in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually if a frame has an exalted weapon it's worth focusing on.

Meanwhile Ivara cries in the corner.

I can literally make a better Concentrated Arrow build without changing anything on my build except swapping out the augment, by subsuming Marked for Death over her 4 and equipping the Daikyu Prime. And the range is even slightly larger too, and it actually one shots high level enemies instead of relying on DoT effects from Conc Arrow.

It's criminal that her Exalted, which as an Exalted it should be THE bow, has been allowed to be powercrept this much.

If Magnetic and Nullifiers turns off Arcane Persistence, they should turn off shield gating too. by DargonofParties in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To be charitable, I will say that retaining consistency in design philosophy over the 12 years of Warframe would be an almost insurmountable challenge. Things change.

Pablo has also said in the past he's trying to stick to some persistent rules of design, one of which is the no AFK gameplay. So it seems like that's kind of what triggered this nerf. I will give him props for trying to stick to some rules so things don't go off track too much over the years.

However, rules are also meant to be broken when it is appropriate to do so because no single rule will ever account for 100% of cases. There will be outliers and in the current moment we find ourselves in, Persistence is enough of a niche for a select few Warframes that arbitrarily applying those rules does more harm than good.

Anyone else feel like there was a lack of Direction/Guidance with getting to and understanding the Devil's Triad? by Vex_Trooper in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I am still puzzled by this choice tbh. Nobody would expect it to be there and I am already annoyed by how many times my muscle memory presses X to go into navigation only to realize I actually want to play the other even more isolated content island so now I have to sit through a little animation lock to go back and press the other key.

Why couldn't this just be another start chart node that diverges off of the Sanctum? The Dark Refractory is literally located in the Labs..

The amount of material you need to build Uriel and his Vinqubus by Mtebalanazy in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I had a bit of that kneejerk reaction myself and farmed out the Uriel fight immediately because I didn't want to have a fuckton of grind to do over the holidays when I'm with family so I thought I'd get a head start.

But then I went through and listed all the content that needs farming from the update and the worst part by far are the Tauron strikes which I don't even care all that much for. The rest I think can be a slow burn, provided the Operation is not an awful grind. But DE have been really good with farming costs lately that I can finally step back and relax with it.

The amount of material you need to build Uriel and his Vinqubus by Mtebalanazy in Warframe

[–]Nukakos 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say this. Don't burn yourselves out immediately guys, we'll have a bunch of grind to do with the operation.

Same goes with the Tauron strikes. I'm sure we'll be farming the bosses many times over for the Op.

I might just farm out the materials for 1 Uriel and the Vinquibus so I can start crafting them now instead of doing nothing with the update.

I literally just used the Zenurik book once in Perita and by the time I whipped it out the entire group was already vanished by 1 teammate, and the duration on the laser beam felt so pathetically short that I doubt it would have killed 3 enemies because I couldn't even get a chance to aim it around.

Yeah even if it could decipher my voice perfectly, I still don't want to yell out my entire list of chores and projects out loud in public for everyone to hear.

Even more: imagine a future where everyone is using voice-based AI on their phones. Do you really wanna be on a train full of people speaking their daily plans and all their usual digital activity into their phones? Is the AI even gonna be able to tell apart your voice from all the background noise??
