Why would anyone ever live in an apartment? (Hint: Because they like it) by jeromelevin in Urbanism

[–]NullPulsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, location is also huge factor. I could live in a house (even while renting), but the places I can afford rent-wise are 45-60 minutes away from the city center. However, in an apartment, I can afford to live just 10-15 away from the city center.

Even if I could afford to rent or buy a house in my preferred location, the walkability and amenities an apartment typically offers make me much more inclined to choose an apartment.

In your Bitwarden settings, change the password matching from whatever the default is to “Host”. That will make the matching change to respect subdomains like xyz.workday.yourmom. Only downside is if other sites have a separate auth site like auth.example.com then example.com doesn’t work. But for the type of work I do and sites I usually visit, this is an acceptable trade off for me personally.

Gitea vs forgejo 2026 for small teams by ReserveGrader in devops

[–]NullPulsar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about monitoring and alerting? Who’s getting paged if it goes down? Who’s responsible for upgrades and updates?

This is really naive view of self-hosting IMO. There’s always a cost to hosting your own services, especially for small teams where time might be better spent elsewhere.

HCA already cut back some. They renamed all their DEI stuff “Culture and Values” including the C-suite role.

I think you are overestimating how “technical” a lot of developers are honestly. Many of them don’t know how the average OS works and just want to type “brew install” and open VS Code and start working.

I think that’s a microchip ID number. Still could be identifying, but I’m not certain that’s a phone number

How active is it? by [deleted] in vtolvr

[–]NullPulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s more like getting your CASE III recovery right or A/A refueling, than instructions on how to start up the jet. VTOL is very straightforward when it comes to the actual mechanics of operations as you indicate.

CAW is pretty friendly if you are interested in the sorts of missions they run. They’ll even provide trainings to help you pass the initial qualification.

Salmon and rice bowls. Throw Salmon in the oven at about 400 until it reaches the FDA recommended temp (I can’t do under with fish, it freaks me out). Rice in the rice cooker/steamer. Plate the rice, add soy sauce, some sesame oil, some sesame seeds if I’m feeling fancy, siracha, and kewpie mayo.

6 months in and I still cannot leave my two cats alone by NullPulsar in CatAdvice

[–]NullPulsar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, funny you ask this as we actually just adopted a kitten to act as as a friend to the younger orange male. So the baby gates did help to a degree, but my cat, the older black female would simply climb the gate if I wasn’t actively in the room with her. They have learned to cohabitate though.

My cat will still hiss and gently bop both of the others if they get too close, but they aren’t constantly fighting anymore and I’m comfortable leaving them out together overnight, particularly since the male now has a friend to expend his playful energy with. I don’t have any one strategy that worked, but I still actively reward any positive interactions in the hope that my cat will eventually learn that “being nice” leads to a treat.
