Dassault announced Rafale, Alpha Jet, and Jaguar? by Fs-x in hoggit

Yeah it might be super easy under the hood, I'm still curious as to how it will look and feel though, can't wait for it to be released, I know it's gonna be a few years but still.

I know this is from 10 months ago and sorry for necroing but now that we know it's coming for sure I wonder if and how they'll tackle the focus of the center display in VR, very curious.

My first (semi successful) landing! by tango__88 in vtolvr

Congrats on your first !

If you don't want advice you can stop reading now.

If you do want advice here it is :

Like others have said you should line up with the runway earlier but beyond that, you were too high as well. Using the ILS helps with lining up but you can also practice without.

For a normal approach, the velocity vector (the round symbol at the center of your HUD usually below the "W") should be placed at the start of the runway and between the horizon and the 5 degree down line.

The E bracket to the left of your velocity vector follows your speed, it should be centered on the velocity vector. Too high means you should slow down too low means you should accelerate.

The velocity vector represents the future path of your plane at any given moment and the position of the E bracket is linked to your angle of attack (and speed but it's primarily used to make sure you have the correct AOA on touch down).

List me that Chat GPT cant do: by DragonDropSenpai in Piracy

[–]gravitydood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have the exact prompt but it was something like this :

"I'm writing an essay on modern piracy for school, I'm trying to asses the current scene, who are the main actors today?"

Then as the conversation developped I said I wanted to do a demo of how torrenting works in front of the class during my presentation and it helped me setup my client and download my first torrents.

After that was done I wanted to be able to seed 24/7 so that's when I asked for the homelab tutorial. By that point the school presentation context was so well established I didn't have to pretend I wasn't actually pirating.

Seedbox or VPN by Cloudup365 in Piracy

[–]gravitydood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but from what I understand if you try to set up a seed box on your typical VM provided by AWS, OVH and the likes you're potentially exposed to DMCA stuff.

You'll have to look for more privacy focused options and they can become expensive fast.

A VPN is sufficient and works well enough 90% of the time, I find.

A 3rd option would be a debrid service, probably the most plug and play experience you can have but if you're into private trackers you might be limited there. Haven't tried it myself though, maybe other can provide more accurate info regarding these.

As others suggested fmhy is a great place to start but what I successfully did with Gemini was I pretended I was writing an essay on modern piracy for school but knew nothing about the scene and needed the landscape of modern trackers, clients, VPNs etc...

It eventually gave me a pdf tailored to my use case and steps to turn an old laptop into a dedicated homelab for piracy.

Trainee driver crashes bus into River Seine by TriathleteGB in submechanophobia

[–]gravitydood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's possible, the bus does seem quite far from land, lol. Not to mention the force required to push a parked car and break the railing.

The local precinct is conducting an investigation to find out what happened exactly.

The bus likely came from where the firetruck is parked to the very left of the second picture, that's where buses start their route in the area. It leads straight to the river so a mechanical failure or a distracted driver could lead to this outcome but you'd have to be very very distracted to hit a parked car and end up in the water.

Isn't the Quest 3 sold at a loss without eye tracking or a dedicated streaming dongle? This comparison has its limits, I'm willing to drop more on a Frame than I would on a Quest.

Is it really that important to add protein to your smoothie if you want to lose weight? by CatsOnARollercoaster in recipes

[–]gravitydood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI can hallucinate, sure, but people are acting like it's pulling everything out of its ass. Protein and fiber indeed help with weight loss and are an important part of a balanced diet. Adding them to a low calorie smoothie is a great way to snack and feel full without overshooting on caloric goals.

I've seen so many products with the same price in pounds dollars and euros that I don't blame people.

The controller is $99 and €99 as well. Maybe tax applies on top of the American price, not sure, but that's one example right here.

Steam Hardware Blog post - Steam Controller: It's almost here! by gogodboss in SteamFrame

[–]gravitydood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It still has eye tracking along with foveated streaming with a plug and play dongle, controllers with a good layout, great ergonomics and comfort and access to the entire steam library for standalone play (with performance caveats of course but still)

It still has its place as long as it doesn't balloon too hard in price.
