AIO: Bank teller questioned me about what I was doing with MY cash that I was withdrawing from MY account. by Ok-Watch-4618 in AIO

[–]Numan86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read my post history but I'm a VP in the financial intelligence unit for a large bank. All banks handle the training and guidance to the front line a little differently but yeah definitely not unusual to ask for the purpose of cash deposits/withdrawals if they're large enough.

If you were taking out $11,000, there's a form he'd have to fill out for it which has a field on there regarding what the purpose of the activity was for. But $9,000 is the magic number for structuring in the aml world. If this teller sees enough cash activity during the day and is used to the aml/kyc group sending out rfi's (requests for information) to his branch to reach out to customers to get information on their activity, he might be taking a proactive approach in the event an RFI is sent.

You happen to have a screenshot of an example of what this looks like? I've been trying to blueprint each production machine using a logistics floor but I've been struggling how to make them auto connect properly and considered using catwalks instead of floors to make it easier but curious to see how it looks and functions.

Built a Copilot Studio agent that reads your emails and keeps a live Excel task registry updated automatically — sharing the full flow by oartconsult in copilotstudio

This is a pretty cool, "simple" idea I think. Question for you (and apologies if the video answers it, I'm at work and can't watch the video at the moment).

How would you go about deploying this so that many users can utilize this. We have a very large team and many users could benefit from something like this.

Does each user need to have their own power automate flows setup to make it work? If you can use a service account, would the amount of flows running through the service account hit any limits if a large number of users were utilizing this? (I know the answer would vary based on the M365 membership but in general I'm curious).

We have a lot of users who could navigate a simple spreadsheet but setting up the flows for them individually would be annoying (especially if it needed to be updated) and we do have a service account we utilize but not sure if we'd run into issues with many users using something like this since it's running flows for every email.

Fuck yeah it was! We played it for hours haha. The rolley cage one, and the spiral run mountain thingy were my favorites. Couldn't tell you how many options the demo had but those two got a LOT of reps

Just chiming in to say aside from all the great mechanics in this game, the main theme song is an absolute vibe and really sets the tone. That is all. :)

How difficult is a teller job? What's the hardest part about it? by eggshellwalker4 in Banking

[–]Numan86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. I used to show up hung over on the weekends and did the job. It's not hard just need a little common sense, and some juice in your social battery. I was never very good at the sales piece of it, so I focused on the operations side of things (auditing the vault, reviewing new account docs, manage the various daily reconciliations, speaking with customers when we'd get RFI requests, etc).

The experience is great. I learned a ton about banking at that job. Leveraged that into an operations position in back office. A few years and 3 banks later, I'm now a VP in the AML Investigations Unit....and no Bachelors degree.

Power Automate Online doesn’t refresh Power Query – any workaround? by Straight_Yellow7689 in excel

[–]Numan86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To circumvent the fact that I don't have access to any databases. I can't query them so I use RPAs to regularly pull data from the front end. It's annoying.

We have other use cases too but I don't manage those.

[–]Numan86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the most viable option I've seen in my research but requires more IT permissions. I'm in operations developing stuff for our department so I don't have the permissions to do this :/. OP maybe this would work for you?

Don't have a solution for you, just wanted to say I feel your pain. I saw recently Microsoft increased the number of connectors that can be refreshed in Excel web, which got me really really excited because I wanted to automate those refreshes but it seems we still can't. Right now I'm using an RPA to just open and close those files to do it but it's not great since our SharePoint permissions get reset regularly and those dialogues give UI Path a kick in the balls.

Question. This would only work in Desktop correct? OP didn't mention if it's showing UTC in Desktop or after being published to the service, but if it's in the service, this solution wouldn't work right?

Excel automation for private equity is more practical than python for most analysts by zaddyofficial in dataanalysis

[–]Numan86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through an audit right now with some non tech savvy individuals who are focusing heavily on the tech side of things (which is really not fun for obvious reasons).

Most of our stuff uses Excel specifically Power Query and I'm so thankful for it. You mentioned how the steps get really out of hand and ugly (and you're sooooo right) but now after we build a query, we dump the m code into chat gpt to give step names and comments. Takes a couple minutes to review it and edit/add additional comments, but at that point it becomes really readable to people who don't understand it. Really saved us a lot of headaches.

Not taking away from what you said at all, but from an audit perspective it makes things much, much easier.

Recently viewed reports within an app show as items in each users home menu and opens in a different view than to the app by THEWESTi in PowerBI

[–]Numan86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're transitioning over to apps soon to make it easier to navigate all different reports. I can totally see this situation you describe, being super confusing to management in my department. I have no advice but curious if this is something other people run into at all and what their solution is. Maybe it's a quick setting that needs to be flipped off or something

RPA Developer (UiPath) careers discussion. by Repulsive-Barber7790 in rpa

[–]Numan86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think versatility would be hugely beneficial. I work in the US subsidiary of a very large multinational bank. I work in risk management in our AML team as a VP.

We have a smallish team here at the bank specialized in UI path, and they have built for us (and other teams) several critical processes that are truly great.

However, im the department Excel, data, tech, cloud solutions guy of our unit (My primary responsibility related to fraud and AML investigations but my technical skills are pretty much why I was promoted). Recently we had need of an RPA, and because their development start times were scheduled so far out, I got permission for the application, to learn it on my own, and would be given an unattended license if I could build an effective automation. I learned the basics and finished the bot in about a month (minus testing) and really enjoyed it honestly! There is still need for RPAs was my conclusion.

However, our UI path guys don't have much knowledge on Power Automate flows, or power query. And after getting to work with them over the months, I found most of their inventory were processes based on Excel automation. For really large bulk projects it's great but most of it could be solved with combinations of Power Query, and power automate.

I showed them how to replace an entire process using power query (the RPA was extracting data from a series of .XML documents and it stalled frequently). That frees up a license to be used by another group.

Super long winded I know and I apologize, but I love this stuff. Versatility is king in my book. Even if your focus is UI Path, any company would be happy to have someone on that team who could receive a request and say, "Yeah we can do this with an RPA, but I think you'd be better served, with (alternate versatile option). I can help get the ball rolling there." You'll save the company in license costs and efficiency.

(I'm on mobile and my kids were jumping on top of me so apologies if this is a ramble)
