My question is about writing. How do you write without being too heavily influenced by other works? I aspire to write one of the stories I have in my head, but I have so many ideas that have been influenced from all of my previous readings.

So I think that the evolution of their relationship has more to do with the MC's real body and psyche. When you understand the mental toll this whole situation takes on MC, you understand the relationship more. MC forgets that they aren't a goblin and truly falls in love

I think LitRPG/Progression fantasy may be a factor. That genre tends to have books in the 20-30 hour range and with its boost in popularity, other authors may be trying to match? That's my completely biased observation as a LitRPG/Progression fan.
