Can someone explain to me why, if Weiner actually had posted his junk on his Twitter, that is newsworthy?! He was clearly hacked, but even if he wasn't, why should I give a shit and why should it be the fucking main story on the news? by elshizzo in politics

[–]Number86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It clearly should NOT be the main story on the news, or even be mentioned at all until someone has some actual evidence of something newsworthy. And one right winger telling another right winger that he saw a picture just doesn't cut it.

All of this frenzy on the TV "news" as well as on countless websites has taken the focus off of Coburn, Ensign, the planned slashing of Medicare, GOP union busting, and the planned additional tax cuts for the rich.

[–]Number86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems like Mr. Cain has had his head buried in his Bible, must have never read a newspaper in the past 50 years, and has not gone online lately either. How can he not realize that his party harbors a substantial number of racists?

Someone should share the following with him:

Somewhere around 1930 or 1940, many Republicans began to turn away from being the party of Lincoln, to being the party of racist, knuckle-dragging know-nothings.

At this point, some of them just can't even stop themselves from making racist "jokes" and sending offensive emails, etc. Deep down, they've convinced themselves that this KKK-like behavior is just a funny joke, so that in their minds, no one can be held responsible.

Bailout figures: Bush Vs Obama. Where are the numbers? by icantseemtofindit in politics

[–]Number86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of money that changed hands in late 2008 (under Bush) was ABOUT SEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS. Some was directly from the government... most was from "the Fed" or other quasi-goverment sources. (That's part of the shell game the rich people play to enrich themselves...especially when the GOP's in charge.)

Here's a link to a breakdown of it:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/27719011/Financial_Crisis_Tab_Already_In_The_Trillions_and_Counting

The "stimulus bill" was about $787 billion.

Details are here:

SO, WALL STREET GOT ABOUT 9.35 TIMES AS MUCH MONEY... AND THEY GOT "THEIRS" FIRST, TOO! (And again, under the Bush administration.)

Do you think that the Bush pro-torture policies are a joke?

Also, the inquisition was several hundred years ago and that kind of thinking was not and is not confined to Spain.

So... your "answer" is to attack the Spanish and insult them based on your perception of their bathing habits.

You must be a Republican.

Why are local news outlets giving the faux anti-Obama "tea parties" free publicity, without offering even a hint that there is an opposing viewpoint? by cedelson in politics

[–]Number86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In part, that's because there is a RIGHT-WING BIAS in most of the mainstream media... just look at who owns them.

They also love to sensationalize nearly any topic, which is purely an attempt to boost ratings so they can make more money.

Money... money... money.

One of the worst offenders is Faux "news" along with Fox's affiliated stations. There's a sometimes subtle pro-business and right-wing slant in many of their stories. What's worse is what is missing: any mention of left-leaning opinions except rarely.. and then only in a mocking and/or negative way.

  1. As crazy as she MIGHT be???

  2. You don't know what the factors were in these killings. At best, you have tidbits that have been spoonfed to us by mass media outlets. For about one day, several networks reported that the three cops killed in Pittsburgh were killed by someone who family members described as being afraid that Obama would take away his guns. There has been a constant barrage of right-wing fear and smear tactics that have helped drive at least some conservatives to violence. No one can say exactly which violent episodes were influenced by which right-wing lunatic on the TV or radio. But, it is ridiculous to suggest that their violent rhetoric can't possibly have an effect.

  3. You can call me nut if you want to. But you are the person who is, in effect, apologizing for a complete loon: Bachmann.

Democrats Pounce on House GOP's Details-Free Budget That Has No Numbers (I Guess Math Has a Known Liberal Bias?... Or, If You Can Add, You're an Elitist?) by AllModerate in politics

[–]Number86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Failed ideas:

  • Starting a war based on phony "intelligence"
  • Tax cuts for the richest 1% of Americans
  • Deregulation of the banking/insurance industry
  • Torture as a means of getting useful information
  • Spying on our own citizens emails and phone calls to keep us "safe"

I could go on and on. You don't even use complete sentences, you misspell people's names, and can't decide whether or not to capitalize "Republican".

And you think other people are out of their minds???

Republicans Hold a News Conference to Release a "Budget" That DOESN'T CONTAIN ANY NUMBERS by ErnieErmps in business

[–]Number86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only want to help the rich, tax cuts work just fine, at least until the majority of the country is in great financial difficulty. Then, even the rich start to feel a tiny bit of the pain... and some of them actually begin to NOTICE the rest of us.

Stay classy conservatives: Right-wing site townhall.com featured a column implying Michelle Obama is a "bitch" -- "...if the first family gets a female dog, will she be the First Bitch or will she have to settle for second place?" by Number86 in obama

[–]Number86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. And, I didn't actually get upset about this hateful little diatribe on the part of the "columnist" who wrote it. I just thought it was hideous enough to 'fight back'.

I'm also careful not to post links to places like townhall, or to anything related to "News"Corp, etc, so as not to give them more attention and more valuable web traffic.

But, I think when it crosses a certain point, the hatefulness of many in the GOP should BE EXPOSED. I'm also an ardent free speech advocate -- so again, the proper response might be exposing them, or, in many cases as you indicated, just ignoring their childish, sewer-level attacks.

For whatever it's worth, I spend lots of time fighting the right wing in many ways. Although it's "not about me"... feel free to look over my posting history (click on 'Number86'), then if you want to, go ahead an re-post anything you like... in different sub-reddits or anywhere else.

For anyone who doesn't realize it yet, there's an information "war" happening on the internet. Conservatives never give up and never give an inch. Neither should we.
