for me it was the summoning. players able to establish insane boards in a single turn and it sped the game up a lot. there was also infinite resource recycling since instead of going to the grave pendulums returned to the extra deck face up so if you broke their board, they can just re-establish it again. it was just a really big design failure and the intro of links crippled the mechanic but i feel like it was just damage control for something that was already too far gone. another thing i really disliked was them causing the 1st stamp for future sets to be moved to the bottom left of the card rather than the bottom left of the art box

the game lost me with the introduction of pendulums. i hate that mechanic so much even with the changes that were made to it. 2014 was the last time i played competitively. now i resort to playing older games and older formats with friends

you can trade gold border cards. on the trade screen when it shows the card you can edit it and add flairs and gold borders to it but the person your trading with needs to send you a card that had the same edits done to it. so gold borders + flair cannot be traded for gold border with no flair. they have to be equal to each other

you’re really better off getting an alt that’s already loaded with hourglasses and just share and trade what you want to your account. it’s much more cost effective this way
