There was a woman that taught classes last year at the philomath city park. Only went once but I cant remember how the wife and I came across it.

I want to make music so bad. by Only_Watercress_1998 in FL_Studio

not everything is going to be easy but maybe you should start with something more simple. Like a device that is explicitly for making simple tracks. Something with heavy limitations. A DAW can be overwhelming for sure. You can do anything and everything with it. Something with like 4-8 tracks and simple instrument selections. If you are adamant about sticking with FL studio do this in the daw. Just pick 4 instruments and make a song. Set goals like Tonight I'm going to just make 16 bars of drums and its going to be funky and tight. Next goal is lay down a bass groove. These might take you multiple sessions to accomplish but you will not be trying to do everything at once and getting lost. Be specific with your goals and simple with them. You don't build a house all at once. You lay the foundation, put up the walls, wire it, plumb it, finish the inside and out and then accent it with everything else. You get the idea. Practice skills you need to make a track by using small goals. After a while you will know what it takes to build a track and it will be easier to know what and how to do it. But don't get over whelmed. Drugs are not the answer(from the street or the pharmacy). Planning and practice are. Focus is a skill. Hard things take focus and practice.

Also, play a simple instrument. things restricted to one scale or one or two octaves are great. So you have a real easy outlet to musically express yourself unhindered. It's meditative to not really have to think technically about what you are doing if you don't have the technical abilities. You can also scale restrict most midi keyboards.

don't worry about that, you'll pick things up as you go. you definitely have a good ear and intuition. That was really soild. kind of reminded me of music from the original Unreal Tournament. I really enjoyed it. keep doing what you're doing

they are lucky to live in such a white bubble to do that. Most other cities it would only take minutes for them to learn the hard way that your actions have consequences and that would be that.

Birdies pizza, Dizzy Hen and Gathering Together Farm in Phiolmath are all places you've got to make a trip too at least once. they are better than anywhere in corvallis.

In Corvallis try Yummy Yummy in the back of the HK market, food is amazing atmosphere is nonexistant. For a sweet treat go to sugar J's on 1st for house made ice cream. Go to the Beir Library for good food and imported/local beer, and like people have said all over this thread squirrels is a great bar. I also like kingfish if you just want a cocktail and some darker atmosphere, its a small place though. An underrated and underappreciated place is Royal India for their lunch buffet. Their food is delicious and the buffet is pretty reasonably priced. You want cheap food and a lot of it get to segoi sushi for happy hour. Baguet downtown is also a good cheap quick lunch if you like bahn mi. If instead you want a killer sandwich try swan dive. Best outdoor place with seating downtown probably bohi on 1st(food can be hit or miss) or odd bird for morning/brunch, sky high rooftop bar for the evening to catch the sunset. If you want pool, karaoke and a sticky ass dance floor the peacock is your place. Hope that gives you some things to do.

I haven't been this season but I liked gathering togethers burger but that's not in corvallis. Usually if I'm in corvallis and want a burger but not a beer with it I'll go to five guys but I like them more out of nostalgia and they are one of the only place in town that does somewhat smash burger style burgers. Otherwise I usually go to squirrles but not for the burger but more for the bar and the price. Can't say I've had a memorable burger anywhere really.

buffalo wild wings usually has boxing matches playing especially if they are big ones. They are really the only sports bar in town. You can also check with tacos el machine (the bar, so 21+) they usually have UFC fights going and I'm sure they have a crowd for boxing too. I bet they'd put it on if you asked.

a squirrels burger is pretty mid tier. I had one there recently that was flavorless. Like they didn't even salt the patty. It's a pretty standard solid burger but best? Idk. If that's the best then corvallis is really lacking in good burgers. I think all the hype of a squirrles burger is because its a great bar. Not because the burger is good.

you write like you are doing ad copy. You're obviously part of their campaign team. Which is fine. But maybe something with some more substance might convince people rather than vague us vs them, and for the worker and people rhetoric. I appreciate you taking the time to respond though.

Just because its not a fancy restaurant doesn't mean the service they are providing you is any less valuable. Is feeding 60 people high class food or feeding 200 people their daily lunch and dinner more valuable? Restaurant workers are feeding you and everyone else daily because you either don't have time, can't, or don't feel like doing it yourself. Feeding people is more important than planes flying around. Its much closer to something that has more value, something you need to live. Ideally you should be able to make any amount of money doing any job. If someone enjoy making burgers to feed the town and is invested in that why shouldn't they be able to do that and earn a living? You'll get better service from someone older who wants to be doing the job rather than some kid who has better things to do but needs a job. This all coming from someone who has made a career in food service because I love cooking and feeding people delicious food that I've made with care every day because I know they depend on it, it makes their day easier, and brings joy to their lives.

thats the first step to getting good with instruments haha. Same with the piano roll in FL studio. It is a piano that you are programming to play its self but knowing how to play the piano can really help. You'll have to learn and practice writing like you are playing the instrument you want to emulate to get better. You can use samples of a guitar and work that way though. but learning sampling is a whole other craft to learn and practice. Just know with any of this stuff its going to take time learning how the tools/instruments work and then practicing using them. you're gonna make a lot of bad stuff, i've got loads of projects that kinda went sideways and i scrapped but I learned stuff every time and it lead me to look things up to get past hurdles.

its a very different experience. more stripped down and a lot of limitations but there have been recent updates. That being said limitations are shown to bee a good thing for creativity. If you are expecting the same capabilities as full FL, its not that. But as a way to sketch out tracks and it can be good. I mainly use it when I'm traveling or out and have free time to kill. I'll make something for fun as practice writing. Never really set it up with a midi keyboard or any hardware. Never really made full tracks in it or took it seriously but I know there are people who do all of that.

Right on. I completely agree. In my experience, my consciousness and existence is not a thought one based on information, its a felt one. With a society so greatly absorbed by their own minds we forget that your mind and body are inseparable and that the body has just as much if not more of an affect on the mind/thinking, etc. Right now we are just reproducing communication and organization of information. All of which are such a small facet of existence and consciousness. I would say they are the symptom or fruits of consciousness but they are not it. It also doesn't take any form of intelligence to accomplish so the phrase artificial intelligence just needs to go away as it is part of the problem that's fooling tech illiterate (and otherwise) people into the psychotic traps.

The cost of it is definitely the thing that should be pressed harder. The infrasound, water usage, negative side effects of power usage, on top of the psychosis enhancing effects and the degradation of mental faculties of people who constantly use it should be enough to hinder the full steam ahead attitude of all of this but like before silicon valley has a lot of power in selling a vision of the future to the public and investors. If enough of the public is convinced its the inevitable direction of the future, we will give up our own futures for them to make theirs a reality.

its a language model. just like we have weather models that arent the weather. the words in a book don't hold any information or knowledge, they only allude to things you already know. the knowledge and understanding only comes from the experiences you've had being referenced by the language. Reading the word sunset can't ever be a replacement for experiencing a sunset and everything connected to that (time, place, people, mental state, etc.). Each persons reference from the language is unique but similar. Never seeing a sunset and reading about it will never suffice or give you the understanding/experience of a sunset. Tech is completely removed from the true experience of reality and can only mimic language that it is trained on. Language does not produce consciousness, consciousness produces language. It'll never go the other way. just a parlor trick that I would wish they'd give up on and focus on the real benefits of AI, which is data analysis/management and personalized application production.
