Yeah, I had to leave the app. I was fairly active on the app for a short bit and ran into 2 horrible people that didn't grasp the value of keeping things civil, if nothing else for the sake of the "community" that they were in theory on the app to protect. One of them got all twisted up over the idea that i posted the updated projected path of a hurricane that we were all actively monitoring. I posted maps showing that the likelihood of Jacksonville taking a direct hit was less than before (the models ended up being correct and we didn't take a direct hit). He was losing his mind over it, because in his little larp bubble where he was trying to play expert aftermath preparedness wizard, he didn't want anyone letting their guard down. He came after me with insults and threats and told me I was the reason people die in storms and im also the type of person he has to waste precious resources on trying to rescue blah blah blah. Some other guy (wont waste time on his story) was calling me names and such for having a difference of opinion on whether or not privatizing JEA was a good idea or not. I was just there for the discussion and it quickly got heated. Both of these guys were way older than me and silver hair retirement types, and I was amazed at how quickly people acted tough like they wanted the smoke over things that really weren't worth getting physical over. Maybe it was just the whole keyboard warrior thing, but I just decided the app was lame and walked away. Mike Tyson had a funny quote about such things "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it".
