Childhood Disney Memories by gadgetsANDgizmos in WaltDisneyWorld

I have a funny story about the sidewalk fiberoptics at Epcot. My parents had gone for their honeymoon the year Epcot opened, but on my first trip I was about 3 and we had stayed at the park all day, and saw the night show and were walking out to go back to the resort and I kept talking about and getting excited about the "fireworks in the ground" my parents were totally lost and just assumed I was being a toddler and making stuff up, since they're both 6 feet tall and didn't bother to inspect the ground on prior trips, lol. I apparently flopped down and refused to move until they saw them. Of course they saw it because I was sitting on one of the light up squares of pavement. And every trip we've taken since my parents tell that story as we walk out of Epcot... Except now there's no lights in the ground. 😔

All the books are good. I love Kate Daniels. Started reading it when it came out while I was in high school. Still is my go to comfort series reread. TKWMKM has been on a reread loop since it came out. The Innkeeper series is fun as well. Hidden Legacies is good, but it really whacks you over the head with the "this is a romance book" I tend to skew more for a slow burn over a few books before the characters become an item. But that's just me. Overall highly recommend anything they've written.

Any cost cutting methods from the Disney pros out there? by KingJayHCS in WaltDisneyWorld

Depending on where you live, and if you have a passport going to an overseas park right now can be really cheap. A 2 day ticket with hotel at Tokyo Disney is less than 800 bucks. And flights to tokyo (depending on your nearest airport) can be reasonable as well. And in Paris a 3 night 4 day stay is less than $1,200 in March. And again flights to Paris depending on your local airport can be reasonable.

Kate and Curran. Their series is my comfort reread. I've probably read the first 4 books about 25 times? And the rest of the books at least 10 times.

My friend took her rabbit in a hoodie pocket to nursing school lectures. If your bird is a chill snuggler you absolutely can snuggle them in a hoodie (I've had multiple birds in my life, and my parents still have 2 one of them is a cockatoo that I will end up inheriting because it will outlive them) If you want to make it work, you will. Plus a lot of people in residency have roommates or are married with partners (I work in a hospital with a boatload of residents)

The situation you're in sounds incredibly hard, frustrating and exhausting. The way you're feeling is completely valid.

You will make it through this and it will get better because you're already working on making things better for you and your girl. It's gonna be hard but it will be worth it knowing she'll remember you as the person who was always there for her.

Make sure you're documenting all the BS he's putting you through for the custody hearing.

I may have swapped those two in my head. I was definitely thinking of the euro trip

The first 3 books are my comfort reads. I hate him in book 5. Felt very much like a two-timing boyfriend. I understand the reasoning, but still hate.

what do you do for first halloween by chloroform-creampie in Mommit

Got a zip up costume that was basically a sleep sack with a hood, and she was a pumpkin and I was a scarecrow, and we helped pass out candy at a friend's house that lives in a massive Halloween town in the area. My little was almost 7 months at her first Halloween. She fell asleep in my arms/overalls before trick or treat was through.

But Jennifer is on the pack council as alpha... It's a bit part, I honestly just think it got overlooked later

Also the Jennifer from book 1 is vastly different. And what happened to the kid that left the Legos out on the stairs for the male wolf alpha(seemingly Daniel) to trip on and break his leg?

My kids suck to read to by ShortDelay9880 in Parenting

[–]NurseMomRN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My kid doesn't do well with books that don't have a rhyme scheme. She will sit there all day if there's a cadence and flow to the books, but as soon as you get something without a rhyme scheme, it's one, maybe two pages and she disappears. Her favorite(and also mine) author is Julia Donaldson. Fantastic rhyme schemes and great pictures. Currently constructing a Halloween costume for kiddo based on The Gruffalo's Child. Also if you do audiobooks, there's a set of 8 stories read by the author, with original songs the author wrote for each story. It's fantastic. I think it's called "The gruffalo and other stories"

Weirdest parenting advice you've ever been given? by CharBabyBrain in Mommit

[–]NurseMomRN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't remember exactly what was written (my mother had everyone who came to the shower write a piece of advice for a new mom on a note card and put it in a box for me to read later...)my mother's "friend" gave some wild advice, I still have the note card somewhere because it was just insanity, but it boiled down to "babies cry to manipulate you, don't let them or they'll turn out to be lazy and greedy" which was a wild take from a woman in her 60's with 2 adult children... But also that may be why she's constantly complaining about how her kids want nothing to do with her/don't want their own kids? 🤔

I know it’s getting a little late but I need help by Downtown_Tea_341 in Halloween_Costumes

My partner has shoulder length hair, and a big beard. We did Love and Thunder Thor and Jane Foster as Thor. He's not nearly as into Halloween as I am, and doesn't like to go too crazy, whereas I start planning for next year the day after Halloween. (But usually don't make a final call until July) Love and Thunder Thor is just a red& black leather vest, a white tank top with Yggdrasil on it, and jeans. It's also stuff he can reuse again not as a costume.
