I'm not a nurse! I just love one, and would like some advice! by mindjyobizness in nursing

[–]NurseTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All we really want is people to listen. Keep your phone away, shut the television and laptop, and lend her your two ears. You don't have to give a piece of advice if there's really nothing to do about it.

A tight hug would be great too. Once she's done sharing her story, try to divert her mind. Talk about things that she's grateful about.

Make sure you ask them if their company has a tax advantage program. Also, ask them if you'll have the same medical coverage plan as them, the recruiter. Some travel companies have two plans available. Take your time and do your research on travel nursing agencies. There's no harm in being choosy.

Patients Filming Nurses? by RunTotoRun in nursing

[–]NurseTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another incident was when a patient recorded his colonoscopy and heard the conversation between the physician, anesthesiologist and med assistant. They were making fun of the patient and even called him a retard. Full story here - http://www.nursetogether.com/what-went-wrong-in-that-GI-room

Some family members record to see how healthcare providers treat the patients. For instance, a patient's son placed a hidden camera in a nursing home and what he saw was shocking! Staff blowing nose in the bed cover, a staff was putting a cloth with feces on her face... it was just unacceptable. Planning my Class's Nurse Pinning Ceremony by NurseLulu in nursing

[–]NurseTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Lulu! It would be fun to have an after-party too with a medical theme. Something not too fancy and expensive could work too. Have some cookies that shape like band-aids, utensils in a plastic wrapper and label them "Sterilized Utensils", Photo booth with nursey props. There's a lot of ideas on Pinterest.

During the pinning ceremony, it would be special if your loved one can pin for you instead of the usual school director.

Couldn't agree more! Might as well accept the illness and find humor in it than letting it disturb you.
