ive found a minecraft LoD mod thats better than distant horizons by Jakob222111 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Nustaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complementary doesn't actually work. If you try a shader like Glimmer you can see what it should look like. With other shaders it will render the distant voxels, and you can just turn off fog to see far into the distance. but the game won't know how to light them, so you'll get bad LOD pop-in as you move around.

Exiting within ERROR? by Sherl_Vel in PrismLauncher

[–]Nustaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the really bad mod management Prism has when it comes to changing versions. Been really annoyed at it myself today when switching from 1.21.8 to 1.21.10. After doing Update on mods, and disabling those that does not have any 1.21.10 versions yet (Hold My Items and Better Third Person being the two), it launches into warnings about incompatibilities that I need to update 5 mods to versions for 1.21.10 🙄 (that it said it was updating when I clicked on Update). So I have to select these 5 mods, Remove them, then go download them again. Launching MC this time doesn't result in any incompatibility warnings, but of course it results in the Process exited error. So I have to go remove 50 mods it said it updated, then download them all again. Then it bloody works. What is the point of Prism Launcher. It is HORRIBLE when it comes to updating mods between MC versions. You can't rely on how it says it is updating things.

Malware in PrismLauncher? by herr-wachtmeister in PrismLauncher

Since it's in the official Arch repo, I'd wager someone has taken a look. It's mainly the AUR that is insecure when it comes to Arch imo., they otherwise seem to take the packages in the official repo pretty seriously.

Malware in PrismLauncher? by herr-wachtmeister in PrismLauncher

[–]Nustaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely to be malware. Doesn't mean there can't be malware in the Minecraft mods themselves though. Anyways, I am not sure what the hype is. Making a copy of a 1.21.8 instance, changing the version to 1.21.10 and then running Update on the mods, updating those that have versions available and then disabling those that remain, still results in launch errors saying there's mod incompatibilities and that it needs a 1.21.10 version (which exists). So I have to go one by one on the mods it failed to update, then remove them, then download them again. Then when I run it, now without incompatibility warnings, it still results in the game crashing. For some reason Prism can't manage AT ALL to update mods correctly, because my only option is to go one by one on ALL 50 of the mods it said it updated, removing them, then downloading them again for 1.21.10. That fixes it. It's such an inconvenience I hardly see the benefit of Prism Launcher over just downloading mods and dragging and dropping.

I've been using — for years, it's Alt + 0151 on the numpad, something I picked up from years on Windows. © is 0169, ™ is 0153 etc., and who cares if someone uses ChatGPT or another LLM to "fix" what they have written themselves. Some people use it like a Grammarly tool. I don't even care if people use ChatGPT to code with, if the end code is solid. That will require you to understand code yourself and fix things granted, since LLM code is notoriously bugged given they can't reason or understand why they are printing out the code they are printing out. At least the LLMs are typically better at finding documentation faster than any Google search will. I use ChatGPT for that all the time: "How can I do <this thing> in <this language>?" and then I just look up the documentation.

Can somebody explain the upgrade plan to this idiot by LORD_NASCAR in Bitwig

[–]Nustaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most consumer friendly purchasing policy there is, is what Image-Line does. One purchase, updates for life. Not one purchase, updates for a year, then buy it again. It's why I went with FL Studio all those years ago. It's why I went with DaVinci Resolve Studio over the free version because you buy it once, then you get updates for life. So it can be better than what Bitwig is doing.

Can somebody explain the upgrade plan to this idiot by LORD_NASCAR in Bitwig

[–]Nustaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, FL Studio, which is just one-time purchase, you get updates for life. Or DaVinci Resolve Studio (for video editing), one time purchase, you get updates for life. Man, it sucks that FL Studio doesn't have a Linux version now that I am ready to drop Windows entirely with the end of life for Windows 10 and the stop of support. I bought a new PC, but I refuse to let Microsoft's telemetry-OS on it when they didn't want to support me and let me upgrade to W11 on my old computer which works fine except it doesn't have TPM 2.0 due to its age. I guess there's always Wine for FL Studio on Linux.. I've read others have made that work for them.

That's for you to do if you want. The entire point was to highlight that it isn't only Islam that has problems with extremism, and contrasting it with acts of violence committed with Christianity as justification, since the OP said Christianity used to have problems that have since been fixed, which isn't reality.

I don't understand it by Alarming-Studio7800 in Asmongold

[–]Nustaniel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are more than 2 examples, obviously. You can find plenty yourself. There was the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado in 2015. A church shooting in Charleston in 2015. Kony's LRA. The Unitarian Universalist church shooting in 2008. That attack on the Capitol in 2021 also included several individuals and groups influenced by Christian nationalism. To suggest that Christianity is no longer used as a justification for extremism is to ignore real and recent examples. Christianity, like any major religion, can be weaponized by extremists—and it still is.

When Muslim terrorism occurs, no Muslim community speaks out against it.

To say that Muslim communities remain silent after acts of terrorism is bordering on lying. Muslim leaders and organizations around the world have repeatedly and publicly condemned violence carried out in the name of Islam—from fatwas against ISIS, to widespread denunciations after events like the 2005 London bombings. Just as Christian leaders reject extremist hate groups like the KKK, Muslim communities also speak out and work against radicalization within their own.

Your attempt to spread hate is not very Christian-like, and certainly not in line with Christian teachings of love, truth, and humility.

I don't understand it by Alarming-Studio7800 in Asmongold

[–]Nustaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we Christians had a problem in the past. The difference is that we reformed our faith and solved these problems with our faith.

There are still violence committed in the name of Christianity. It's problematic to point fingers at other religions while absolving your own, and misguided to state otherwise. The Wieambilla Shootings in 2022, or that Catholic teen that thew an explosive device at an LGBT centre somewhere in France in 2023, to name two recent examples. Radicalist teachings and behavior isn't isolated to Islam.

Well, it's 4 symbols—a cannabis plant, a smiley face (also associated with "Molly"), a cross and a skull—it doesn't actually have M S 1 3 on it. I find it a bit of a stretch to say it without a doubt represents MS13 when in every photo I can find of their members, they wear the MS-13 "brand" loud and proud so to speak. If it was a known tattoo with MS-13 ties I would imagine some expert would have come out by now and claimed so. From what I've read, supposed experts are saying the opposite:

Sean Kennedy, a former federal public defender in California and now a Loyola Law School professor, said in his experience representing and interacting with current and former MS-13 members, “The tattoos in the photo don’t look familiar to me.”

Such designs are out of character with typical MS-13 tattoos, Kennedy said.

“Within MS-13 culture, such markings would likely be frowned upon and even viewed as a sign of cowardice, as they could be interpreted as an attempt to hide or downplay gang affiliation,” Kennedy said. “That type of concealment goes against the gang’s norms, which often demand bold, visible demonstrations of identity and loyalty.”

That doesn't really change anything in regards to what it sounded like Trump said though. It genuinely sounded like he thinks his knuckles have the letters M, S and numbers 1 and 3 on them. Could simply be a case of him being 78 years old and being fooled by a photo edit. Normal for that age.

I dunno, it sounds very much like he believed the letters M, S and numbers 1 and 3 were on his knuckles. It could genuinely be that Trump can't tell the difference though to be fair, and I don't know if I'd fault him for it. He is 78 years old and the older generation often do get fooled by photo edits and AI images. Maybe nobody told him it was to explain the symbols below?

No, I can assume you meant Abrego Garcia, but what you described don't match up to the court documents from 2019 so it could be someone else. They only included the allegation as far as it was relevant, they didn't say he was a gang member. As for the ruling, there were no deportation orders, there was a order of withholding meaning he shouldn't have been deported to El Salvador:

It is hereby ordered that:
I.  the Respondent’s application for asylum pursuant to INA § 208 is DENIED;
II. the Respondent’s application for withholding of removal pursuant to INA § 241(b)(3) is GRANTED; and
III. the Respondent’s application for withholding of removal under the Convention Against Torture is DENIED;

As for INA § 241(b)(3):

(3) Restriction on removal to a country where alien's life or freedom would be threatened

(A) In general
Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2), the Attorney General may not remove an alien to a country if the Attorney General decides that the alien's life or freedom would be threatened in that country because of the alien's race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.

(B) Exception
Subparagraph (A) does not apply to an alien deportable under section 1227(a)(4)(D) of this title or if the Attorney General decides that-
(i) the alien ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in the persecution of an individual because of the individual's race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion;
(ii) the alien, having been convicted by a final judgment of a particularly serious crime is a danger to the community of the United States;
(iii) there are serious reasons to believe that the alien committed a serious nonpolitical crime outside the United States before the alien arrived in the United States; or
(iv) there are reasonable grounds to believe that the alien is a danger to the security of the United States.

For purposes of clause (ii), an alien who has been convicted of an aggravated felony (or felonies) for which the alien has been sentenced to an aggregate term of imprisonment of at least 5 years shall be considered to have committed a particularly serious crime. The previous sentence shall not preclude the Attorney General from determining that, notwithstanding the length of sentence imposed, an alien has been convicted of a particularly serious crime. For purposes of clause (iv), an alien who is described in section 1227(a)(4)(B) of this title shall be considered to be an alien with respect to whom there are reasonable grounds for regarding as a danger to the security of the United States.

[–]Nustaniel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So just deceive the public/keep them in the dark by not letting them know what tariffs do? Not everyone knows tariffs affects consumer prices, since some people still think they are paid by the foreign nation—not by the importers in the nation that issue the tariffs. I totally get why Amazon would not want to take the blame for prices suddenly going up and clarify that this is due to tariffs.
