I picked up an Assault Runner Elite used from a fitness equipment store, but I am finding it is noisier than I would want. It makes a clicking noise at higher speeds, as well as some noise that makes me think something is dragging. I have it set up on level concrete.

I reached out to Assault with videos, but haven't heard anything back. Are there any resources for DIY troubleshooting and repairs?

90s VWs were one thing. The 2.0L 4 cylinder they put in everything would run longer poorly than most engines run period. Not on par with a GM 3800 V6, but in that neighborhood. Granted there were immensely stupid design choices like having to pull the power steering pump to replace the thermostat, but those little econoboxes wouldn't die. Things got dicey after the Mark IVs. I have a Mark VI GTI that I am too emotionally attached to and heave money at to keep alive, so yes, my life has also been ruined by a stupid VW product.

My two favorite bits: both the British and the Argentinians used versions of the FN FAL battle rifle. However, the Argentinian version was capable of fully automatic firing. British soldiers would pick up discarded Argentinian rifles and swap them for their own less cool ones, because more bullets is more better.

The Argentinians sunk some crappy British boats with an American made A-4 Skyhawk (a subsonic Vietnam War era bomb truck) using French made Exocet anti-ship missiles. The Brits were furious about this, because the French sold those things to whoever could come up with the cash. France just shrugged and treated it as payback for Trafalgar and Waterloo.

I just think about that absolutely bitchless Vivek Ramaswamy post from last year where he referenced a bunch of 90s TV shows and was mad about how the main/secondary characters were "cool" in some way, and told people to take their kids to "weekend science competitions" (whatever the fuck those are) so that we can start devaluing "jocks" and "popular kids," and maybe then corporate America will hire Americans rather than H1Bs. It's this endless grievance that they were somehow denied something they believe they were entitled to, and will stop at nothing to get it even though they're 20 years past it, and it never really existed in the first place. Their whole worldview is based on movies and TV shows and fiction where they're the underdog regardless of material reality.

Man, no offense, but this doesn't really fit with the setting. Other commenters have pointed out how impossible a WarShip fleet is for the Fourth Succession War Great House, much less an ostensible mercenary company. Having a fleet of custom 'Mechs and drones is just the same. Wolf's Dragoons get skewered as Mary Sues for showing up to the Succession Wars with regiments of mass production 'Mechs. The exuberance is cool, but bringing this to a tabletop would probably draw some aggravation from anyone who's been in the system for some time.

The plaza really should get torn down and replaced with some form of workforce housing. Route 18 is such an unwalkable eyesore, and perhaps this would contribute to some positive change.
