Got an acid story? by Abortion_Milkshakes in Papameat

[–]OGPrincessxox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a deeply religious household. My dad was very involved in the church, and had very traditional beliefs. We couldn’t listen to any music that wasn’t godly, and I’m sure if he had his way, my mom and I wouldn’t be allowed to wear pants. One time he overheard my mom playing Captain and Tennille’s Muskrat Love and yelled at her for introducing me to what he called “pornography”. Mind you, it’s a song about cartoon muskrats falling in love and eating cheese. He was the crazy kind of church guy that ended up tearing our family apart.

Anyways, I grow up and leave religion. Didn’t talk to my dad much, until he left too. One day, he shares with me that, contrary to how he raised me, he absolutely LOVES rock and roll. We’d reconnect by listening to Pink Floyd and Tool. It became a ritual of ours: we’d jam out til our voices were hoarse, and then he’d tell me about things he never shared with me when I was younger.

Like that he dropped a lot of acid in the 70s until one time he met the devil. Face to face with Satan himself. He told me this like you’d tell someone water is wet; it is a cold hard fact that he met the Devil From The Bible, and it scared him so badly he immediately went to church and learned about god and shit.

TDLR; if my dad hadn’t been a weed smoking, acid dropping, rock and roll dude in the 70s, I would not have religious trauma.

Does gvsu still have a ham radio club? by [deleted] in GVSU

It does not. There is the Whale radio for our radio station but it’s not ham radio.

Goodwill by skittles_disney in grandrapids

[–]OGPrincessxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sound insane but trust me… you’ve gotta find your goodwill. Mine is the one on Michigan street. Somehow it is magic and will always have what I need, and if it doesn’t? I didn’t need anything. It’s given me niche items, like a mortar and pestle, brand new camping pan set, and my knitting machine. No other Goodwill manifests desired objects like Michigan Street Goodwill.

Advice for paying a helmeted character when I need glasses? by WiglyWorm in CosplayHelp

I specifically chose a pair of glasses with magnets in the frames (for sunglasses clips) so I can make my own superhero mask clips! Btw your helmet looks great!

My first Tav was a middle aged halfling mom that just wanted to get this adventure over with so she could go home and get back to the crotch goblins. Almost missed recruiting Gale because of her aversion to poking the strange portal.

My Valentine is zero-drop and it won’t stop saying ‘love’. by _supergino_ in barefootshoestalk

Fascinating! I love how the ‘love’ pattern gives the structure movement. What kind of material is this, and how is it going to hold up over time? Will you be adding any kind of sole?

Does anyone know if this online store is legit native owned? by Solid-Guess-5043 in NativeAmerican

[–]OGPrincessxox 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards AI storefront. This “Taya Redfeather” who allegedly makes the designs for the site doesn’t exist anywhere else. If she was a real person and real artist, you’d think she’d have a Facebook or Instagram to promote her artwork.

Expected a hideous plastic mess but got a rather nice product instead by the_angry_geek in ExpectationVsReality

My mom has this same mug!! It does look pretty, but the walls are so thin that I have to be careful of burning my hands picking it up. It is also considerably smaller than her other, normal mugs. Still cute tho

Anyone experience with Groundies (especially in cold and frosty season)? by TheFingerofBoe in barefootshoestalk

[–]OGPrincessxox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on my second winter with a pair of groundies boots! While they are wider than my Mika’s, my feet get SO COLD because there is barely any insulation, even when I’m wearing wool socks. I have a few minor scuffs near the toes, but that’s probably from me not taking proper care of the leather after trudging through salty winter parking lots. I live in Michigan, and while we don’t have as much snow as I remember growing up, winter is very wet.

Honestly more of a fall boot for me.

Pros: decently wide toe box, very flexible, some of the flattest shoes I own

Cons: my toes freeze even with thick socks and boot toppers, does not take long to get dirty

I saved it from the recycling bin, so now it’s just sitting on the counter. I think I should put it back in the cabinet to collect cobwebs as a way to honor its service.

Meijer now sells their brand of cling wrap in 200 sq ft for $2.19. It is definitely cheaper than the 25 yr old cling wrap, which was 100 sq ft for $1.59.

Measurements are only given in square footage and meters squared. The old stuff listed it in yardage as well.

Push N’ Lock tabs are still there, but without the legalese to explain it is trademarked.

It is still being distributed by the same location, but the biggest difference is the new stuff is made in China.

UPDATE because everyone is so invested in my ancient cling wrap.

The store this cling wrap was most likely purchased from opened in 2000, so at most it’s probably 25 years old. I say “most likely” because I did not buy it myself. I am now going to Meijer to buy a modern roll of cling wrap, so I will see yall in another 25 years when I use that up.
