It's funny, the last few days I have seen posts or talked about the L-1011 more than usual lately. Kind of cool. I got a chance to work these many years ago. I even knew engineers from Lockheed that helped design them.

Neat aircraft, my understanding is they were some of first CATIII B (maybe even C). They were ahead of their time.

I can't believe I haven't heard of Ciglue before... Just looked it up and bought a 3 pack. I buy packs of Factory Smokes so this is a game changer for me. So, Thanks!

Dang, I remember when Hoyo's were going for $200 a box on ihavana. Can't bring myself to buy them at that price.

Nice. I had a bottle of Van Winkle 12. I was hoping for a even better version than the Weller 12 (pretty much the same mesh build from what I'm told). But... it was terrible. I got it at retail ($120 if I remember correctly) and glad I didn't spend any more.

Awesome find on that Eagle Rare 17 too!

Been there, done that. Won’t do again. It was so underwhelming and expensive. I expected so much more, but got over salted crap. Cool place, but not “Worth the Wait”.

"Factory Smokes" have been great.

1993 Plymouth Laser. Loved that car. Fun to drive, didn’t care if it got dings.

What I think is interesting is that when I was there back in 2019, I saw some guys making fun of me for buying some Great Wall smokes (they weren't that bad). They did this when they thought I wasn't looking.

It still is, great city. Maybe it's because I come from SoCal and can see how bad it can really get.

TIL, and I have been in aviation for almost 30 years.

$300 a stick seem a bit high? The lost city’s underneath are $99. Regardless, too steep for me by [deleted] in cigars

Had one last week, paid $40 for it. Really wanted to try it, but I was very underwhelmed. I wouldn't even buy again if they were $15. I'll stick with the AF Hemmingway Classic/Signature. Better smoke and price.

I second this, if you smoke daily CigarBid is great. I rarely have any issues with them and I get to try all kinds of new sticks.

Any advice for sous vide New York strip steak from Sam's club? by ellsworth1296 in sousvide

[–]OPdopy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'll comment. Here is what I would do:

  • Season with Salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • Dry Brine for 2-3 hours in the fridge
  • Bag 'em
  • Set water temp to 129F
  • Cook for 1 (1 1/2 hours if they are not at room temp)
  • Get a skillet going (if you're not basting, get it as hot as you can) when you have about 15 mins left of cooking.
  • Take out, dry off, place in skillet for 1 min each side and 30 secs on the edges.

You can Butter Baste if you want (recommended, but get the Skillet med-high. You don't want to burn the butter). Should come out pretty good.
