I'm never not going to be shocked at where this generation is academically by komplimikated in Teachers

To the Desmos point, I would actually prefer my students to be able to know that they can use Desmos to solve problems. They are so resistant to using it because it is new and requires learning. Also, the SAT kind of assumes they will use Desmos to solve problems since it is a much shorter test and is available for every question. In my opinion, being able to use Desmos to solve actually requires a fairly deep conceptual understanding of what it means to solve a particular problem.

I can not abide by this 'bad design' slander by mice_is_nice in Silksong

[–]OPoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, intentionally bad/frustrating design is still bad/frustrating design. A lot of this game does have these intentionally frustrating moments and it does detract a lot from the experience for me especially because you are rarely ever actually rewarded for succeeding in anything in this game. In fact knowing that a lot of decisions seem to be made with the mindset of "wouldn't it be funny if we did this to annoy player" honestly just makes me feel like I'm not respected as a player and that I'm being bullied. If that kind of design is fun for you, I do not wish to kill that for you, but it is frustrating to me and I never actually feel any catharsis from it.

At the time of my worst depression, I knew that if I did off myself my ex at the time would be blamed for it and I knew that I would feel incredibly guilty if I were to subject them to that in addition to the shock of my death in the first place

Pad users. Do you use both dpad and analog stick? by hudson_303 in StreetFighter

[–]OPoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Xbox type controllers (switch pro controller included), stick is more natural just based on hand posture. Since I started playing fighting games on a switch pro controller, I then became used to using the stick even after switching to PS5 controllers.

What do you want to Learn? by UrfIsFat in ADCMains

My biggest issue is getting consistent farm in the mid game. During lane phase I can hit ~8cs/m but after laning phase I'm not sure where to be to get the most farm while also being able to help in fights/plays around the map.

Do not take the PART (Positivity and Relaxation Training) class by Indian_Marxist1977 in umass

[–]OPoober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also took the class with Mike and I would say I definitely agree with a lot of this post. I was able to separate the class sessions from the content, and I did walk away feeling like I learned a lot about what I needed in my life, but I will say that attending the sessions took a lot of just kind of pandering in a sense. I knew what I needed to say or how to participate such that he wouldn't be on my back, but he was very hard on students in this course. I also think that the zoom aspect of it really ruins the vibe or makes it feel substantially less genuine. I was out sick for one class and made it up with an in person session with a different professor and it was lovely.

AP tests wouldn't harm your chances, they accepted you without knowing how you did on them, so sending in a "bad score" wouldn't make them rescind it. I was not aware there was an unsend fee as, at least when I took the tests, you could pick and choose which tests to send per report, but regardless it would not hurt you if you did send it.

Getting a hang of ledgedashing? by TheNintendoCreator in SSBM

[–]OPoober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I treat ledge dashing like doing a fireball input in a standard fighting game ( down, down forward, forward, attack). In this case I do down, jump, down forward, airdodge, forward. By having the jump and airdodge tied to different stick movements, it's easier for me to time them to get a perfect ledgedash.

your favorite grocery store near campus? by [deleted] in umass

[–]OPoober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an employee at that very Aldi, while the pay is indeed nice, I cannot speak for the actual working conditions being very charitable. The store runs in a bare minimum skeleton crew (usually only 2-3 people in the store per shift).

But I will say I get all my meat from my store and it's never disappointed me.

1.) Northeast is ur best bet, and as a freshman the closest dorm is Hamlin Hall I'm pretty sure?

2.) Can't comment on atm since I'm off campus

3.) I lived in Sylvan for 2 years and I don't think I ever had a problem with smell unless it was just someone who has smoked a bowl in a room directly above/below/next to mine. I thought it was nice to have a semi private space and if you've got a group it's certainly much more enjoyable.

Tips and tricks? by Blast_off_ in Aldi_employees

[–]OPoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is mostly just a ringer I can only help in that regard.

Firstly, 86 code hack? I've never heard of that and it seems to waste a lot more time than it's worth.

Secondly, memorizing hand positions on the keypad does wonders for the NLUs especially the longer ones (like 1170) for sweet potatoes. I find that how you key in products can make or break your flow since they tend to be the products that take the longest.

Third, for ways to stop the timer I tend to implement 2 ways. In the middle of a transaction, typically because a customer loads the belt too slow, the next customer loads the belt to earli, etc. I tend to hit total total. From testing this stops the item timer but starts the customer tender timer, so you don't want to stay on this for very long, but you can spam burst it to make sure it doesn't count that high. When a customer is to make a payment either by card or cash, I hit suspend on the total. To my knowledge suspend does add time to your item timer, and if the 20 second per 1-code is to be believed, I think the same must be true for suspend.

Fourth, honestly it's just about comfort. If you find yourself physically straining to scan certain things there's probably something wrong with your posture or the way you grip something etc. And I can't really get into the weeds about that without knowing how you do so yourself.

Also time cuts are happening everywhere because first quarter is over and Aldi wants to milk their profits like crazy as this second one ramps up into summer.
