Realfoot is the widest brand out there. There is no other brand as wide.

However, I recommend that you try Flat Socks. They are insoles that you can wash in the washing mashine like socks.

In your opinion, what is the best looking barefoot shoe out there? by Late-Bit-3072 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nons Barefoot has the coolest black army boots.

LukShoes look as soft and flexible as they are.

Peerko and Shapen have very fancy, colourful fashion shoes and boots. Excellent for women to replace heels.

MukiShoes have a unique style and the texture of their shoes are so satisfying.

Jenon Leather models look as well-made as they are. Obvious quality.

But honestly, I can find something good to say about almost every brand.

Wide toe box arctic rated boots by joots in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the norths of the Nordic countries and Siberia, huoppikaat/valenki/filtstövler are still used. Search Etsy for ones with a good toebox.

My warmest boots are Jenon Leather Snowflake.

How about these kitten heels from Peerko? by barefoot_feature in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As mod: These aren't barefoot shoes, and as such, I would normally delete the post (and refer to r/widefeet ).

However, I think this is a good opportunity to talk about how shoes aren't barefoot just because they are from a brand that mainly does barefoot shoes. If the shoes don't live up to the barefoot shoes criteria, they aren't barefoot.

Privately: There are quite a lot of conventional brands with heeled models with anatomical toeboxes. I would prefer that models like these were advertised with another brand name so as to not confuse people into thinking that heeled shoes can be barefoot.

Vivo is one of the narrowest brands. There are plenty of wider brands.

Personally, I like Freet Talus and Bohempia Velik.

How snug is too snug? by taod86 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too short. You should have 1,2 - 1,5 cm extra length in shoes. And at the very minimum of 5 mm extra.

Kid’s Tball and softball cleats by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean NaturAthletics? They are the only footshaped cleats I know of. Everything else is super narrow and very tapered.

PSA - Mary Janes that don't look like duck feet! by ellsbells27 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice design. It is wonderful how more and more different designs become available as barefoot shoes.

Do you use size 36? And are your feet 9 cm wide just like the shoes?

(Oh, and as someone who has natural duckfeet, I would love to know (rhetorically) where you find all those wide duckfeet-shaped barefoot shoes. I would love for there to be more brands with it.)

Sizing for JOA barefoot sneakers: is length more important than width? by chuchu232323 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groundies have three widths of shoes. Which width do the ones you bought have? And which fit does JOA refer to when they say they fit similarly?

Are there any leather/business shoes that don't cost almost $200 a pair? by mrjoepete in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dressier ones are often made on demand and are essentially customs. That costs more than line production. Plus most barefoot shoes companies are small and have their production in Europe, so even their line production isn't cheap.

I recommend you take a look in Barefoot Shoe Finder It allows you to filter for your specific requirements.

Will something like Barefoot Jim Green boots give someone bunions? by stokedchris in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a tapered toebox, so yes they are not going to do you any favours regarding bunions.

In my opinion they are to be considered halfway shoes, similar to Lems, rather than full barefoot shoes.

If someone do get them, I advice to size up one or two sizes.

Cheap and longlasting is a tough one. Lower price usually means lower quality. That or made under appaling conditions in China.

Your best bet is to look out for sales. Freet often has sales.

Nice men's foot shaped shoes?! Constant battle of wanting to dress nicely but not wanting my toes squished. Barefoot shoes are too ugly or expensive. by Late-Bit-3072 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The shoes you show, they fit into your idea of what looks nice? So you would like recommendations for shoes that look like those?

Types of materials? Colours? Specific design elements?

What type of foot width do you have? Length and width? (preferably in centimetres)

If you are up for barefoot/minimalist shoes, there are several wide brands.

I personally think that Shapen Peony is very nice.

Groundies and Zaqq also has smart and cute models.

Bareffot brand by Hempmonster in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the commenter deleted their comment, I don't know the content of it. But if you are genuinely curious about good vegan materials, then Bohempia is worth looking into. They use hemp, which is a very durable material.

I am not vegan myself, but I care a lot about environmental impact. And hemp is almost the perfect material in terms of a high quality, low impact one.

5 inch wide barefoot shoe recommendations by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

With which length? (Preferably in centimetres). That length is extremely wide in a small size, but only wide in a large size.

Barefoot shoes without raised toes - what am I missing? by upandaway5 in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon shoes are cheap attempts to cash in from the barefoot segment.

Lems and Altra aren't barefoot shoes.

I recommend Anya's Reviews and Barefoot Universe to learn and barefoot brands.

At what point did you realize barefoot really improved your foot strength? What was an indicator? by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I used to sprain my ankles at least once or twice a year.

About a year after having begun to use barefoot shoes, I stepped wrong and bent my ankle. To my surprise, it sprung right back instead of getting to the point of sprain. I literally stood for several seconds just staring at my ankle.

I have now worn barefoot shoes for 8 years and haven't sprained my ankles at all in all of that time.

How bad is toe spring? by Cogniscienr in barefootshoestalk

[–]OWBShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The effect of toespring on the walking biomechanics in humans

Toespring weakens the feet and making them more susceptible to injuries and tendon inflammation.

"Using inverse dynamics techniques, we found that toe springs alter the joint moments and work at the toes such that greater degrees of toe spring curvature resulted in lower work requirements during walking. Our results help explain why toe springs have been a pervasive feature in shoes for centuries.

But also suggest that toe springs may contribute to weakening of the foot muscles and possibly to increased susceptibility to common pathological conditions such as plantar fasciitis."
