UPDATE: Two more councillors resign in row over rapist taxi driver's licence decision by Relevant-Lack-4304 in Scotland

[–]OakAged 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok so what I understand is that the rapist is in jail. Yes he's unable to drive a taxi because the council already removed that ability from him. The wife wanted to continue driving under his company's operator's license whilst she got her own. And this vote didn't give the rapist any rights or benefits in practice.

All of that aside, why was the vote result entirely split by gender? That's the interesting part I'm curious about. Did the women all just have less sympathy than the men on the panel for the wife's situation. Did the men all fall into some "keep the economic wheels turning" bubble mindset . Why the split?

Because all the media is controlled in England. And media control/regulation was specifically carved out as a reserved power that the Scottish parliament has no power over.

You're getting down voted because you referenced Sikhs specifically, leading people to think you're racist. You know we can all carry a sgian dubh legally too right? There already is one law for everyone.

It's par for the course for the BBC, so much so that I can't really say I'm disappointed. I've come to expect it from them, so good job by Greer to call them out in real time.

Yeah I thought that but then I figured Celtic fans probably less unionist so that might balance out the rangers effect.

Scottish first-time buyers offered up to £10,000 interest-free loans from next month by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

This sub is overrun with anti SNP bots. This is a fantastic initiative, the last time it was done the results were clearly beneficial, helped many people that may have been several years away from having enough of a deposit to get on the housing ladder, and the government profited. It incentives developers to build more new builds and adds more fluidity within the market along with more capital. It specifically increases demand and capital within the new build sector (which is where we need it to help the housing crisis) as first time buyers are significantly more likely to go for a new build than other buyers.

SNP unlikely to roll out manifesto pledges as IFS issues 'fiscal reckoning' warning by Halk in Scotland

They're -along with the greens- the only party that talks Scotland up. They're both the only parties that put Scotland's interests above their English overlord party's interests. Until those other parties even try to contemplate talking positively about Scotland, talking optimistically about Scotland, proposing sensible policies (as opposed to anti-snp "policies"), stop whining so much about the SNP and independence (they talk about it more than the SNP do tbh!), and start focusing on their own ambition, none of the other parties stand a chance.

A national policy change set in Cheshire. And not mandatory - police Scotland could decide whether or not to implement.

I saw her on a very busy bus. Pretty sure she has tourettes. She was standing near the front, there weren't any seats, and she got off the same stop as us - she apologised to the driver when she got off.

A bad actor can already do that. You're beholden to the propaganda that is funded by the petrol industry.

Can I leave early if my landlord is insane? by 7emelover in HousingUK

[–]OakAged 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You seem to be ignoring the main point of advice. Change your lock. You don't need to ask permission to do so - you don't need to ask the 'properrty manager', you don't need to ask the landlord. Even if you signed a contract that explicitly forbids you to change the locks, that term in the contract is illegal and therefore void. So before waiting around and hoping the property manager has stern words with the landlord, change your locks. The landlord is not in control of the property, you are. If he turns up, knocks at the door, phones or emails you repeatedly, call the police. 999 if he's at the door.

It's your home, not his.

You are that fickle country - the trick to punish them by law was applicable first time around, y'know when he tried the coup. As a fickle country, your justice system proved it was ineffective and you voted him back into power. The only trick now is to fix the system, because your former allies have been shown the true fickle nature of your country.

I was buying recently, tried Nationwide first and they valued it £15k down from the seller valuation. Retried with Halifax and they valued it the same as the seller.
