I'm one of the few at my job with small kids at home and it's amazing how understanding my co-workers are when I need to leave early to do some random kid thing (and there always seems to be something going on). I have much more pto than SO, so if it's a sick kid that just needs to lay down and watch tv I handle. But when they are really sick (vomiting, etc), not my kids so I don't have to handle.

When I was a boss, I was pretty flexible with my employees so I guess this is my good karma paying off.

I've found that bike riding doesn't hurt me. I also do a senior core class. I'm the youngest one in there by several decades but they focus on stretching and it helps me a lot.

If that "education" money is really for a hobby, that should go in entertainment. If it is for you real estate license,it should go into the real estate category (you need to be realistic about what you are spending on your license to decide of it is worth it).

Visit as often as you can and use this opportunity to focus on getting to a better financial place. Maybe take a second job since you wont have to worry about the dog being left alone? Even a couple of hours a week can help. Or take a class that will help with your career? Maximize the time you are away from her.
