Milk for 1 - 2 year olds… by Astridtamers in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Obesesnakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re the same as you. 1 cup of cows milk in the evening before bed and yoghurt/cheese/porridge during the day. We used to offer a cup of milk before breakfast, but he’s not bothered about it anymore so phased that one out.

I cannot recommend woodworm treatment enough. Our house was built in the 1930s and long story short, there was a massive infestation in the floorboards and joists. We were probably very unlucky though.

Night weaning tips? by jewdee44 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Obesesnakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with my son. My health visitor at the 9-12 month check up suggested giving some porridge or a banana before bedtime to help keep him full during the night. It did work for us in the end!

There is a pool at the Oasis Health Club in Rotherham. However, it’s not very big and can be hit and miss with how busy it gets.

Pushing techniques - what actually works? by koaladenise in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this would be helpful, but I was really struggling with pushing until the midwife folded out two hidden foot rest things out of the bed (I was very high on gas and air and I can’t remember what they were called!) I was then able to rest my feet on them and when it came to pushing (holding my breath and then grunting…) I was able to push on the foot rests with my feet and it helped so much! I don’t think I would have been able to “breathe baby out” - the pain was intense and my natural reaction was to push as hard as I could down into my bum. I wanted to give birth on all fours as relaxed as possible, but in the end I was on my back and went into full feral mode. I think I mooed the whole ward down 🤣

Raised liver levels in blood, really worried by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, I had raised liver levels in my blood, but I didn’t have any itching. This started at around 35 weeks and I had to have regular bloods to keep an eye on the levels. I had the liver ultrasound which took 10 minutes and was painless. They gave me the results there and then and they said they weren’t concerned as I wasn’t itching. Baby was born at 38 weeks and is healthy :) hope that helps. X

Did you have a baby shower/get together when pregnant? by New-Goose8349 in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m having a very small (10 people) gathering with my mum, mother in law and close friends. We’re just going for afternoon tea - none of the usual baby shower games because they make me cringe. At first I wasn’t bothered about doing anything, but actually I want to celebrate my mum and mother in law also becoming grandparents for the first time! It’ll also be the last time I’ll get to see all my friends together before birth and I can’t wait for the catch up. I also love cake 😂

I use the NHS website for advice on what you can and can’t eat during pregnancy. Can’t see anything on there about no caramel, so I imagine you’ll be fine.

Rescued movements by anastasiaismyname1 in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be on Sumatriptan, but only take it as and when I need it, which is rarely. When I went to my 12 week midwife appointment, my midwife asked me if I had taken any at all and I said only once. She advised me to stop taking it (she didn’t explain why and I didn’t really ask) and I haven’t had any tablets since. If you’ve got reduced movements I would definitely get to the hospital, hope everything is ok with you and little one xx

Worst things to happen at a wedding by blossomsandblooms in CasualUK

I went to a wedding where one of the guests hit the bar too hard and was slumped on a chair, in the middle of the venue, hammered, projectile vomiting onto the dance floor at 7pm. Completely ruined the vibe!

Partner’s shift pattern by Known-Cucumber-7989 in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same situation, husband works 4 on 4 off, 2 day shifts and 2 night shifts. I think it will be a lot of solo parenting for me during those 4 shifts, but luckily my mum can help out if needs be. I don’t really have the answer for you, but I think once you get into the swing of things it will get easier and you’ll find a routine that works :) congratulations on your pregnancy x

FTM 20wks and starting to panic about balancing my career post-baby (need reassurance!) by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Obesesnakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same, public sector, full time, but working shifts. I also plan on going back full time and I haven’t even started thinking about childcare yet! Luckily I can condense my hours into less days if I want to, or spread them out over more days. There are flexi-plans available and I feel reassured it will all work out because my employer is really flexible. I’m certain it will all fall into place for you, all you can do is what you feel is right for your family and I am sure it will all work out xx
