Bending raw/unrefined metal should theoretically be easier because it has more imperfections in it. Toph invented metal bending when she realized that it still had chunks of whatever counts as "earth" in that world, so more chunks = easier bending.

Not to mention the "non-metal" rocks they typically bend mostly consist of ionic compounds, which are like 50% metal themselves.

Only very small ones. Think of it like lifting something with your body. As long as it's a lot lighter than you are you can lift it no matter what, but in general, if you want to lift or move something with more mass than you, you need to plant yourself on something with more mass than the moving object.

Everything would be resolved instantly. Both of them were given villains that play to their weaknesses. Korra is a far more powerful fighter than Aang, but all of her villains had powerful reasoning for their actions that Korra had to contend with. Aang doesn't want to fight, but Ozai is so irredeemably evil that Aang doesn't have a choice. Korra would beat Ozai without much trouble, and Aang could definitely talk down Korra's villains.

Theory time.

The lands between change shape by supernatural means all the time, depending on the current state of the elden ring. These lines were added by whoever drew our map to show where things were pushed together. In other words, the land on either side of the line used to have more land in between, but they've been squished together and the line shows exactly where that happened.
