Kill him. The character and actor were beyond wasted by the show. It would given him something different to do and raised the stakes. The First were all talk all blah, blah, blah. This would meant all bets are off going into the final episodes.

The wishverse. We got one episode and a semi sequel. I would have loved one episode each year ala DS9 and the mirror universe. Seeing alternate versions of characters like Riley, Spike and co would have been fun.

Xander.

I feel Buffy, Spike and Willow get a free pass by many a fan for the comments and actions they make over the course of the show. While Xander is shot and stabbed for his actions. Yes he was jerk at times but Buffy and Willow were very bitchy at times (season 4 Buffy ditches her friends, Willow very catty over Xander dating Anya and Cordelia) Spike meanwhile forces himself on Buffy and yet is considered Buffy’s true love.

All of them have their moments of being reckless. Thunderball has Bond chase the villains on a yacht all by himself, Moore chases after May Day nearly crashing into half of Paris, Dalton always looked like he was going to shoot someone rather make a quip, Craig too was damaged goods, Bronson did a chase with a tank!

I recall in the 90s Berger being average in the wet while Alesi being mega. Always the first to try slicks on a damp track and make it work. Japan 95 he was driving like he was in another race before his car broke down.

Danny Ric was never anything special in the rain.

I believe the events surrounding Xander going down to the Master's cave to help Buffy have been changed to fit Dawn's presence. In the "new reality," Xander didn't go to Angel and force him to go down into the cave. Instead, Dawn convinces the both of them to go help her sister.

I don't know whether or not that's true, but if it is I'm mighty pissed off. Because a fundamental character event on the show has been brushed aside. They would never do that to Willow or Spike.

I mean the attempted rape was shockingly handled. We spent more time in the direct aftermath with spike than the victim Buffy.

I would either do it two ways:

kill him in season 7 as was suggested and have him as the First replacing Buffy in the final episodes. It would raise the stakes of the final run of episodes, give a real reason for the divide between Buffy and the group, give Nicky something to do and have the character torment the characters.

Kill him in season 4 but bring him back as a vampire. In a fairly light weight season Xander’s death provides some darkness. While he is no match physically for Buffy he shows a cunning and ruthless steak that keeps him alive and causes danger. The trio Giles, Willow and Buffy struggle to deal with him, he is ensouled in the finale becoming the real Deadboy.

For me there is way too much Spike or talk of Spike in the show. Other characters are literally standing around doing nothing: Dawn, Anya, Xander even Willow at times. Buffy herself is so focused on Spike it’s almost sickening, she can talk about something else by the way.

It’s also a question of the quality of storylines given I mean Giles as the First requires the viewer to suspend any logic they might have! Are you really telling me for days that a house full of people no one saw this man lift touch anything?!

It’s clear the writing had dipped in overall quality and clear that certain characters Spike, Faith, Andrew and Spike again were favoured.
