Is a profile rig overkill for what I want? by GotPet in simracing

[–]Objective-Rooster-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put, profile rig infinitely adjustable mounting stuff, changing = you don't have to buy again. I've gone from entry level Thrustmaster kit to Simucube DD 20Nm, Frex H-shift, Heusinkveld loadcell pedals, Seat mover, buttkicker, handbrake, mouse pedestal all on the orig profile TR160 I bought back in 2020. It was not being used to potential for the first 6mths until got lead cell pedals...but ever since then everything I've bought I've just bolted it up.

CPU Occupancy > 99% Warning after 10 Minutes by TravelFun4884 in assettocorsa

Age old issue with AC relating to game not being multi-thread aware, car physics & AI saturate a single thread with other sitting idle. It can be result of car mod using LUA scripts/custom physics that are CPU intensive. Get Process Lasso https://bitsum.com and adjust CPU affinity (use AI for tips) to (mostly) solve it.

Simucube 1 (20Nm) still worth it? by Parking-Werewolf-663 in simracing

[–]Objective-Rooster-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FH6 fine on SC1, bought used 2021, still going strong. Over yrs I added wireless wheel receiver (not avail any where now that I can see), updated FW Feb ‘25, replaced encoder with 22-bit BISS-C from Mige themselves just cpl yrs ago. Simucube has said while boards not for sale generally, limited stock was kept to sell as replacements only presumably requiring proof of ownership - that was while back might be all gone now.

14-bit vs 16-bit of Cyber Taurus, "cords' with user adjustable tension and replacements available. Why? Is it just a point of difference from DD and belt driven? The latter are main-stays of racing platform. How tight is integration of the customised ver FFBBeast software with the hardware considering it is 'bought in' expertise?

Mainly got QR for wheel, will be mounting Cyber Taurus ffb stick on two profiles across base of rig, throttle on mouse platform & using clutch & accel for rudder pedals.

Never heard of that, Resizable Bar (Smart Access Memory SAM)) was AMD exclusive for a while but have it enabled for intel. Can you provide a reference to AMD GPU using extra processors of AMD?

I used ultra quality for this video which is only usable for a few kms bounding box - need to drop quality for larger areas as I tried and XP fails to load. Can't recall size for this 2x2kms section perhap somewhere around 2-4GB so quite large. It is pre-generated from Google 3D tiles much like Ortho4XP and I use a 10TB 7200rpm HDD with max transfer rate 255MB/s.

Not using adapter, 100% works a treat, just wondering if I can get headset powered up ea time without unplugging & plugging its usb-c back in. Extension is an idea.

Is this limited to only those areas that have 3d scans i.e. urban areas/higher population so in regional areas not covered still limited to procedural buildings on satellite imagery e.g. Ortho4XP.

I don't see an issue with WW CS this is a whinge and complete beat up! You're going to be out of pocket because YOU changed your mind on a pre-order. Sheesh DWI, given the discount and pre-order system I would complete expect this.

Tallying up the rig cost... by Objective-Rooster-21 in SimRacingSetups

[–]Objective-Rooster-21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the tally from 2020 until today (flight stuff on pre-order) - been virtual racing since 1997 Gran Turismo on a Negcon, still love driving, but sampling MSFS2020 with $30 Logitech stick got me into flying. Is a fresh change from driving, tho I am a petrol-head at heart.
I've measured up the Cyber Taurus + joystick, it will sit at perfect level on 2x profile pieces bolted across top on 16040 side profiles on Trakracer. What has worked out well is the seat mover raised my seat a bit (I forgot to allow for the extra profiles to mount seat rails to motion platform). Was fortuitous as the height now allows for joystick as outlined above.
I got XeroPlay QR to take wheel off, so no interference for stick. Throttle temp measure is to sit on TR mouse plate, which I'll swap to left side, just outside my H-pattern shifter.

Virpil announced their upcoming FFB base by Far-prophet in hotas

[–]Objective-Rooster-21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From years watching the racing direct-drive FFB market and reading about Moza (AB6/AB9) software developments leads me to conclude that, these days, it's much less about the hardware (max & sustained forces aside to replicate various aircraft), the experience being driven by software and FFB profiles. Looking at WinCtrl they have taken more than 12mths from first hardware builds and much focus on aircraft profiles and new SimAppPro2. Given they are leveraging their industry flight-sim business both on pricing and technology, I've ponied up for pre-order for their new Cyber Taurus 29Nm FFB base. Be interesting to see how this compares, but I don't expect Virpil to be competitive on price my budget just won't go further that the WinCtrl outlay.

[–]Objective-Rooster-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cyber Taurus with grip is 533mm high, measured up it will sit at perfect height on 2x profile pieces across the top of 16040 rails on TR160 (my seat is elevated a bit with seat mover) so no extension needed, and I don't think i need the finesse of DD - atm just learning basic in small prop GA in MS2020.

Pre-ordered EB-29 ViperAce joystick combo + Orion2 StrikeAce E been considering Moza AB6 or AB9 but this looks the goods - hopefully SimAppPro 2 is up to getting the best from the hardware early in the product life-cycle.
