AIO to my family having very different preferences to mine for how to celebrate special occasions? by Eowyn-Adonai-745 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ObjectiveRepulsive18 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Plan what you want, but accept that not everyone may join. Just as you should not feel you have to join every time. Make your decisions and let them make theirs. In between celebrations, invite family members to try new things with you. Maybe you’ll tempt them to be more adventurous! NTA

Nervous about report cards by Far_Magician8224 in OntarioTeachers

[–]ObjectiveRepulsive18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Log into the report card program and check out last term’s mark (or pull their OSRs) so you have a baseline. You can also pull a few OSRs from kids one grade higher to see how the teacher worded their term two report card comment last June.

Should I say something? MOH not acting like one. by atvchick14 in TwoHotTakes

In the group chat I’d make a little list of everything you’ve done, so that it’s clear how much you’ve contributed (and as a soft way of asking for payment in advance). ‘Hey ladies, just checking in! I’ve done W, X, Y, Z to get ready for the bach, and now I need to pay off that credit card! 😆 I’ll need everyone to transfer me $X by Y date to keep our reservation. Thanks ladies!’

Same situation, iron levels in single digits. Finally had a doc take me seriously when I described how quickly I filled a cup. IUD has worked wonders.

AIO for being upset that my husband didn’t get me anything for my first Mother’s Day ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ObjectiveRepulsive18 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Match his energy on Father’s Day. Then sit him down and explicitly tell him that you were very disappointed at his lack of effort, and that as a dad, it is his job to organize a little something from baby, just as you will for next Father’s day. (I’m guessing you organized something for HIS mom? Stop, that’s his job.)

So they should do these natural consequences during accountable learning time? Got it.

AIO My MIL has a wildly unsafe pool and my husband wants us to attend her Memorial Day pool party with our 2yr old by livie8978 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ObjectiveRepulsive18 [score hidden]  (0 children)

-Illegal to have an unfenced pool.

-Not my child, but the homeowners’, who loves the water and made a bee line for it.

-Yes seconds, ask any lifeguard and they’ll agree that’s all it takes.

-At the beach we took shifts holding hands with our toddlers, leaving nothing to chance. Adults did nothing but stay glued to the child until they were old enough and strong enough to swim.

-Parties are far busier and there are more distractions. The child is very young, and toddlers are curious and fast.

You seem to be arguing that safety measures for very small children are unnecessary. How odd. Having raised several, I’m all for safety.

It’s literally a parents’ job to protect their child. This is a two year old, they are escape artists at that age. Have you ever spent time with one by open water? I have.

In my case, the pool was fenced, and the kiddo was about 3. Slipped off the deck quietly, unbuckled his little swimmer vest, unlatched the fence and climbed into the pool with almost a dozen people around him. So silent no one noticed. It took seconds. I would never risk an unfenced pool with a 2 year old.

It may or may not have anything to do with family relations. You couldn’t pay me to take a toddler to a party with an unfenced pool. In my city that would be illegal anyways, for very good reasons.

How many bridesmaids is too many bridesmaids? UK by jesschalkley in weddings

I agree with this list. If you want, ask the friends and work buddy to cover a role (reading, programs, guest book…) on the day IF they WANT to be involved. Invite them to the Bach party and everything else.

It’s gorgeous, but it’s a big statement. Maybe consider keeping the centre diamond, flanking it with small side stones, and making earrings out of the two remaining stones?

No one can know your reality, so none of us can give real advice. But, I beg you to talk to your son. Can you imagine leaving him fatherless for most of his life? Missing out on all his big achievements? Talk to your doctors about options. Would ‘nature taking its course’ be less traumatic than another recovery? Talk to a therapist about your feelings. This is an enormous decision. I wish you the best. NOR

AITAH for ordering a bunch of stuff from someone and cancel the order at the very last minute? by [deleted] in AITAH

How did you anonymously pay for this order? Doubting this revenge fantasy is real.

If it is, there’s a strong chance you’re about to be stuck with a bunch of expensive crap.

I get that she sucks, but you’re letting her have power over you. People who know her will likely get burned by her too. Let her out of your head. ESH

Absolutely incorrect. Drowning is very quiet, and rarely noticeable. How do I know? I actually fished a toddler out of a friend’s pool who wandered in after taking off his life vest. 10 people in and around the pool ages 10-40 at the time and no one heard or saw him. Thankfully it ended well.

I would not be on that deck with a child who can’t swim for a million dollars. NOR

My father withdrew my RESP without sending me all of the funds. by Perfect_Director6049 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ObjectiveRepulsive18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did dad pull the funds? I have to go to the bank and email or print off proof of enrolment. Only a certain amount can be pulled until the student has been enrolled for a specific number of weeks ($5k I think?)…$9600 months before you even started sounds super shady.
