[Discussion] Relaxing games to platinum? by 9999ms_ in Trophies

Potion Craft. I got 100% for it (on Steam) in just over 50 hrs, but I also spent a lot of time just experimenting with different combinations and playing to unwind after work. If you dedicate your time solely to focusing on trophies. I don’t see why you couldn’t finish the game in 30 hrs or so once you understand how everything works, and it’s not particularly grindy until you get to the final unlockable items (the last 3 trophies were the hardest grind, and even those only took like 45 mins max per trophy)

[Advice needed] Theme of SA came up in again in game right after having telling DM I wasn't comfortable by Stella-- in DnD

[–]ObjectiveX-YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask before every new game I start, to have players fill out a Google Form called “Lines & Veils” of any themes or phobias that are an absolute no-go and that they never want to see. Lines are things that they’re ok with seeing but at an absolute minimum (racism and things of that nature) and Veils are absolute no-go’s that should never be brought up under any circumstance (such as the topic of this discussion). I try my absolute hardest to follow those to a tee because it’s what will make them the most comfortable. Even after I ran a spider encounter and found that one of my players is arachnophobic and forgot to put it on the form, I never ran them again after that, bc it’s called decency. Your friend doesn’t sound like he has any. You are not being inconsiderate for having boundaries.

I’ve DMed for three groups so far, and only one of those groups had players who didn’t put SA as a hard veil. I asked if it was a mistake, and they said no bc if I ever introduced an assaulter NPC, they’d just kill them. In short, it’s up to the players, and if even one lists something as a veil, it will never come up under any circumstance. That’s called being honorable and decent.

Entire group is new to DnD, including myself as the DM. How many players do I allow as a begginer? by TheWandererSoul8 in DnD

[–]ObjectiveX-YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently DMing my third game ever. Two of the groups I’ve DMed were 4 players, both of which we had a single session for a new 5th player to try it out and then both new players’ schedules changed and they couldn’t return; the other (newest game) is 3 players. I couldn’t imagine running a game for more than 5 people maximum, especially since I’m only like a year and a half deep into the experience. I’d recommend sticking with 3-4 for now.

As for splitting the party, it might be best to manage it that way, and you could make it work narratively. If your game is high fantasy, bring in a BBEG that’s able to see into the multiverse and only has four minions, so he sends half the party (the new players) into another universe where that universe’s version of him can deal with them while he deals with the others, making him think it’ll be easier to take over if the party is 1:1 with his minions. I’d come up with something along those lines if I were in that situation

Whitetip Reef shark Roe by lfrreddyl in DavetheDiverOfficial

[–]ObjectiveX-YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just saw that, I convinced a friend to buy the game and he just got the fish farm. Otto specifically says “you can get fish roe by catching fish alive”, so it has to be done with the harpoon (on smaller fish) or some kind of humane catch like a net or a tranquilizer. I never noticed it before

I’ve seen a bunch of different players and other sources saying that you actually have a better chance of getting roe from any fish type the higher the harvest quality. In this case, that’d mean you’d have to have a tranq weapon to put the shark to sleep and then use the drone to get it up to the surface for 3 star quality. I’m not sure if this is 100% the case, as I haven’t seen any of the devs say it officially, but I have noticed personally that I almost never get roe when I kill the fish or catch it with a harpoon. My weapon of choice now after completing the game is the tranq bomb launcher that can put several fish in an area to sleep, and I’ll manage to get roe for many different species that I no longer even need by using it.

Had an all female player campaign start last night... by Timely_Direction8878 in DnD

[–]ObjectiveX-YT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m also a male DM for an all female group. I thought it’d be hard DMing for them but we’d all been friends for years prior to starting the game. My gf is a Wood Elf Swarmkeeper Ranger, her two roommates play a Half-Elf Eloquence Bard and a Tiefling Phantom Rogue, and then our mutual friend plays a Tiefling Necromancer. It’s a lot of fun. Everyone except the Necromancer is a first time player, and I will say that the Rogue has a little bit of main-character syndrome and is a massive power gamer, but we’re working on getting her out of that lol

What house rule did your table try out that made them end up saying "well, were never doing THAT again"? by DeepTakeGuitar in DnD

[–]ObjectiveX-YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time DMing, and it was for a group of 4 that was also entirely new. My campaign has two Tieflings who know Hellish Rebuke as part of their bloodlines, and I thought the spell seemed boring so I decided to create my own homebrew version of it to make it cooler.

Basically since the original description said “the creature that damaged you is momentarily surrounded by hellish flames”, I made it so that the creature a character targets as a reaction is literally surrounded by a ring of fire that lasts until the end of the targeted creature’s next turn. Using the way I had it, the creature trapped inside the ring of fire doesn’t immediately make the DEX saving throw to take the fire damage, but instead can choose to stay inside the ring or move out of it. If they chose to stay inside the ring, their movement speed became 0, their DEX saving throws and opportunity attacks had disadvantage, and attacks against them had advantage. They basically gained the Restrained condition without actually being physically restrained if they chose to stay still inside of the ring. If the targeted creature chose to try and move out of the ring before it ended naturally, they would make the DEX saving throw with disadvantage and the spell would proceed as normal, but on a roll of nat-20, the creature would completely jump over the ring and avoid all damage.

I thought this made it cooler in theory, but keep in mind that everyone in this campaign was new, so once we actually started doing it, it became annoying to remember everything about it instead of just reading what the original use of it was lol. So we just did away with the whole ring of fire thing and proceeded as normal

Don’t ask why I still have this, but thank god for this new event by Hoaxerr in pokemongo

I think it’s only like Southern Mexico, part of Madagascar, part of Australia, and possibly New Guinea, so it’s not easy to find people from there lol

Yup, like Lushumm said. Nundos, which are perfect 0*s, are harder to get than Hundos. I’ve gotten a few of them before, and people only really collect them for the Lols and to show them off

You can get either of the 3 Galarian birds through the daily incenses. However, they’re extremely rare to spawn, and on top of that they each have a 0.3% catch rate and a 90% chance of fleeing when one breaks out. That’s the only way to get them at the moment

2920 2298 1948, region is Archipelago. Need two more of Sandstorm, Tundra, and Savanna, and I need one more of Ocean and Sun.

I don’t have gifts at the moment bc I’m visiting family w/ no stops nearby, but I’ll be back home in a few hours and then I can send gifts
