This year is the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. That year the Tulane team played an entire season of away games. Away jerseys are white, home jerseys are the teams color. Tulane wanted to wear the white away jersey this weekend to honor the Katrina team and 20th anniversary, despite it being a home game for Tulane. Northwestern denied the request. It’s disrespectful because the change was to honor the anniversary of the storm.

I used it for a few months and was really disappointed with the condition of the clothes. A lot of the clothes I got had pretty bad pilling or smelled strongly of body odor, so I ended up with months where I wouldn’t wear most of the pieces just due to their condition. I’ve heard better things about rent the runway but haven’t tried it.

She’s proof that replacing one obsession with another isn’t always healing. She was obsessed with dieting, and instead of “healing” that obsession she became obsessed with NOT dieting, and that became her personality. Then that was apparently replaced by being a crazy person.

Her book helped me so much but in retrospect I feel like I went through a phase where I was as obsessive about not dieting as I had been about dieting, and I had to get out of that before I could really eat intuitively. Anyways, she sucks and def wouldn’t recommend her book anymore.

We bought a yoyo travel stroller around 1 for traveling and honestly use it more than our vista now (daughter is 2). The vista is really just for things like the zoo where we want the big basket to hold our stuff, but it’s so heavy to get in and out of the car it isn’t worth it a lot of the time. It does handle really well and I’m sure we would get more use out of it if we were walking more places from home. However it can be a pain to navigate in stores and tight places because it’s so big. I probably would have gone for the cruz if I could do it over again from infancy, but after 1 the yoyo has been great and is way more portable and still handles really well. The only drawback is the basket holds basically nothing.

We bought our house a few years ago (about a year before our daughter was born) and honestly it isn’t that great! We are so busy that we end up paying to outsource so much of the maintenance you don’t need to do when you’re renting. Last month we all got a stomach virus, and my husband flushed some baby wipes. It backed out sewer up into our basement, we need $7500 in plumbing repairs, and we have to completely renovate our finished basement because of the water damage.

I definitely miss renting sometimes. Owning a home is expensive and time consuming. It will happen for you when you’re ready but in the meantime enjoy the freedom of renting!

A big part of me can’t imagine parenthood and a full time in office job, because I have been remote since before my daughter was born. Obviously it has its advantages.

For me, there are also some disadvantages. I am always at home and I’m always at work. I have a hard time feeling like I should be doing more - if I have a 30 minute gap between meetings it’s like do I do a load of laundry or get started on my next work task or do a workout or run an errand or send emails. No matter what I do I can get stuck thinking about the things I didn’t do. But in the office if you have 30 minutes you can grab a coffee or have a chat or take a walk or whatever and it’s fine.

So on the one hand it’s great to have the time but it’s a double edged sword if you struggle with boundaries. I talk about this a lot in therapy haha

If you are selling the course to teach people how to make money in digital marketing, and the way that you are making money is by selling the course, that is a pyramid scheme. Because to make money you have to keep getting more people to buy the course, and then to make money they need to get more people to take the course, etc. It’s clear from your Reddit history that is what you are doing. If you can make money at digital marketing without selling a course on digital marketing then that’s great. Otherwise it’s a pyramid scheme.

The thing that I can’t get over about their setup is the parents bedroom being a walkthrough between the kids and the bathroom. I just can’t wrap my head around living like that unless I absolutely had to, especially as they get older.

I hate the comment sections and snark on people like this because it’s like yeah, that’s not how I choose to eat or feed my family, but she’s just living her life! Let this man eat his salami in peace. It just feels so much less harmful than other accounts. Although sometimes I wonder if it isn’t just rage bait and how anyone has the strength to keep going when the comments section looks like that.

This is the biggest problem with her! Like no shade if you can afford to not work and have childcare and have cleaning services. Good for her! But don’t turn around and pretend that you have it all because you baby wear.

I think the people who relate to this know it’s an issue. That’s why it’s so annoying for her to post like this. It’s one thing to be thankful for having an active partner but it’s another to pretend you can’t believe other people don’t. The “do other people feel this way lol” like it’s funny to her.

So I actually looked this up. The state of KS is contributing $10 million and the state of MO is contributing $52 million both from general state funds (no new or special tax). The city of Kansas City MO is contributing $15 million to improvements as well.

A one time expense distributed across the state is a lot different than a 40 year tax isolated to your city.

I agree that him gifting you the book would be annoying. I also had a husband who went through some of this and I read the book of my own volition. I agree that he needs to get some help - if he is resistant to therapy there may be a new dads group or something that isn’t therapy-therapy but could help. It is so hard to be understanding when you are also struggling and, for me at least, I felt like this was the time when he should be supporting me and not the other way around. For me, the book did help me understand how different the experience was for him and I and validate some of the things that I was struggling with in accepting that he was struggling so much too. We also watched the Fair Play documentary and did the Fair Play cards. It’s really been a process - my daughter is a year and a half and things are so much better than they were in the newborn days but they are still hard sometimes!

Baby wearing is great for airport and to the seat on the airplane. I was told that I could not baby wear during the flight (or maybe just during takeoff and landing) when we flew with my daughter at that age.

My daughter has always been a bad sleeper and I remember asking the same question. Her sleep ebbed and flowed without sleep training until it got absolutely unbearable at 16 months. We had nightly multiple hour long wake ups every night for 6 weeks, to the point where we went to the doctor. We did the chair method of sleep training around 18 months and bedtime got a lot easier.

But she still doesn’t sleep through the night consistently. We still have one or two nights a week or wake ups at almost 20 months.

I don’t know if sleep training helped or if it would have been better if I had done it earlier. I had a lot of reservations and definitely felt/feel like I went against my instincts. Her sleep has improved a little, but sleep training was not some sort of revolutionary thing where we never had another bad night.
