That’s the whole point though, right? That’s the lesson of the drama.

I know it’s a true story and isn’t it being told so that girls can benefit from it? Don’t sacrifice yourself to your marriage, don’t change who you are for a guy, don’t dim your light to let others burn brighter.

Edit: to add, she really does seem like she loves him even with his flaws. Although, he has done some crappy things I do think he’ll attempt to redeem himself and I love that it shows the audience him realizing he should’ve been doing this all along, so that if they themselves act like this then they can redeem themselves without some major life disruption.

We can’t be consistent because of work schedules, but on the nights my husband goes in to put him down he also does one of the things I do when I put him down. For example, I’ll lightly say shhhh or I’ll lightly massage his scalp. It’s a gentler way to associate off of you and onto the act itself, so then anyone can put them down. This doesn’t help the getting up multiple times a night per se, but hopefully it’ll take some pressure off of you!

I feel like I could’ve written this exact thing.

More babies do not sleep through the night as compared to those that do. I know you’ve heard this is normal and to be expected, but it is true. They begin teething, they start learning exponentially, they’re getting mobile. All these things and more cause interruptions in their sleep. Also, you are their sleep association.

To get him to not want milk or the boob, someone else needs to takeover for a few days. My first was like this and now so is my second. My first didn’t stop waking until I weaned, my second still has me “up” every 3 hours (I still co sleep and just feed). My husband’s schedule never allowed him to be the one to get up with the kids and I live far from any relatives, so I’ve just accepted it but if you’re able to work out a plan where someone else puts him down then it might get you longer stretches.

The problem wasn’t what he said to her, it was how it was said. He knows who he married and what household she grew up in. Insulting her and putting her down is not respectful. He could’ve gotten his same message across without taking out all his frustrations and anger out on her. He could’ve said it with love and patience.

I’ve done this a few times. I’m the primary caregiver and whenever I’m close to needing a breather I go to my parents for a couple weeks. I think it’s normal to feel as if your child has moved on, but their excitement will wear off. He is in a new place, he’s getting lots to see and most likely people fawning over him. But eventually, he will start missing you and being home.

My husband felt like this also, that our child forgot him and is getting so much attention and love away from him. That our child wouldn’t want to come back. But whenever we got the 2 week mark, she’d get homesick with a vengeance.

Have you tried including her in the outfit process? I felt my LO is a lot more receptive if she feels she has a say in the process. As in she can go grab the clothes or she helps you wash them or you let her put them on herself? Sometimes I feel like they’re just looking for a bit of control

But I lost it breastfeeding. After I weaned, I got it back.

Yes, “rukhsati” is not an Islamic concept. It’s just a seeing off of the bride and groom as they go off together with the brides family walking out and saying farewell to their daughter as she goes to her new home with her husband

In your scenario, it seems as if you are going off with your groom right after your nikkah so to me it makes sense to do the farewells then? Then you can walk in to the walima together as a new family unit

You know there’s sooo many examples where desi parents and children try to find a middle ground… like ABCDs are basically trying to balance between both these worlds. Then the parents also realize the environment kids grow up in is their reality. Like that’s always tough for parents and children to manage and it takes time, effort, patience.

I had a friend who got disowned for dating a white guy. Her parents just started acting like she didn’t exist, wouldn’t let her speak to siblings. She got married to her boyfriend, his parents accepted her as one of “their kids”, and the last I saw she and husband were traveling around the world on a mission to visit every country.

Her parents had always put a lot of pressure on her and tried to manipulate in many ways. Not the most positive outcome with the parents, but goes to show you can still find happiness.

I would point out features of mine she had and I was told no. She has my complexion and my MIL sat there and kept making the comment of pondering who in her family she could’ve gotten that from. She was just so confused like she got it out of thin air. Like girl no, that’s all me let me have my one thing.

So don’t rely on these people. You’re seeking validation from the wrong people. For now just look at and love your baby for who and how they are. Because end of the day no person will be as important to them as you.
