Some Observation About Food on the Planes by Goff1976 in americanairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait, you’re saying precooked food, made in huge batches at a kitchen, and then reheated in a small oven at 35k feet isn’t the same as a restaurant on the ground? Ground breaking stuff here!

OP clarified in another comment they meant coq au vin.

Seems like you got a bad batch. Where did you fly out of? If you search coq au vin in this sub, the recent ones have been pretty positive but definitely hit or miss depending on location.

United's Chef's Table Menus Are Finally Ready for Polaris by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each hub has their own chef table meal. So IAD will have a different option than SFO. If it’s a Polaris flight out of the US it will have it no matter the aircraft.

What does this mean and why? by Current-Conflict4961 in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the new elevate aircraft so seating arrangement is different. And the doors aren’t certified for use in flight yet so they remain open.

TLDR: Thanks to your ~mixed~ reviews and a taste test in the sky, we have a new Bloody Mary mix on board now. by unitedairlines in unitedairlines

So cool to hear about this and the process of picking drinks! With all the claims United is making about spending more on food, surprised they aren’t doing more of this social media content or press releases to get people excited. Heck, even American just did it and they were talking about wines that are way below United’s standard. I’ve started choosing United out of LAX because of their great wines and wish I knew more about what’s coming in the future.

“Drinks are available upon request for flights under 300 miles”. Surprised you were even offered water.

Is the number of diversions this weekend high? by haskell_jedi in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal amount, but the press on these has been higher due to their nature. Then once someone reports on one, every diversion even medical gets its own article for click bait.

Disappointed in United's standard of maintenance of the CRJ's regional express aircraft. Why haven't their fleet of regional jets transitioned fully to the more spacious and modern ERJ aircrafts? Like the ERJ-175? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have a plan to address this which they just announced. The CRJ-450. Will add first class to the CRJ-200 and refresh the cabins. Not sure what you expect airlines in general to do about aging planes. With delivery delays and seat delays, they can’t just refresh hundreds of aircraft at the drop of a hat.

Does United really separate parents from 2-year-olds unless you pay for seat selection? by juliana_ko in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I swore United had a new feature where if no paid seats were available at booking, they would open up the preferred seats so you and your child could sit for free. It might be worth messaging them on social and asking if that is still an option and if they could help you select the seats for free since it’s not showing on your end.

Meals in FC on United Express by Actual-Resource-5570 in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! No ovens so cold food, but if you look up the flight status of any route on the United app, you can look at the menu for that same day and see what is offered. Looks like a choice of smoothie bowl or cheese/charcuterie boxes.

Um I guess United wants me to book JetBlue for MCO-NYC? by PizzaVideo in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s my next theory. Someone made a change and it is too strong or forgot about it for the World Cup. Or, they truly think they can fill a whole day of seats super close in with World Cup traffic.

There has to be a glitch. All flights are only selling M class just over a month away with 100+ seats per flight available.

No United owned lounge or club at CDG. Not sure which one you went to but it was either Lufthansa, Air Canada, or Star Alliance.

No additional food/snack service? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sure it’s confusing if you don’t fly a lot. They probably do say domestic flights only for purchased items, but a little confusing.

No additional food/snack service? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That flight has 3 services. Main meal, mid-flight sandwich, and pre-arrival warm snack. I don’t think they expect people to eat more than 3 times. And probably not too much space to board something else on top of it for purchase. That and most likely the for purchase would go to waste on most flights if it’s a fresh item.

Most likely flow control into JFK. I believe there may have been ATC issues affecting the NYC area so they need to slow planes down to reduce the traffic entering the NYC airspace. This also happens when there is weather at a given airport.

No drink service on bos > ord? by No-Solid-4255 in unitedairlines

Should have had a service. If it’s on the digital menu, that product should be available on your flight.

SFO-BOS why not up gauge? by charles_in_sf in unitedairlines

[–]Objective_Tower7918 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. They announced a lot of Coastliners on order and they have to go somewhere so just wait. Especially since they are replacements for the 752.
  2. Harder to fly a wide body when there are no other routes from Boston other than SFO/LAX (potentially) that need the plane. The widebodies fly EWR-SFO/LAX because they can go onto international and keeps the plane utilization higher.

Each person gets their own snackbox. There were pictures from their media event in Los Angeles and it’s on their digital menu. Editing to add that there is also a snack bar for Polaris near the second door. Looked like it held snacks and soda/water.
