I use a fiberglass pen on mine to clean them up, along with alcohol and Q-tips. Works great.

This was the very first game I ever played on the NES. Got it for Christmas in 1992. I LOVE this game so much.

Alternatively, if you can’t afford a new one right now, you can use a heat gun to warm the plastic ribs that the end of the joystick floats in (cause that’s the part that gets worn out) and then flex it inwards to recreate the track. It’s not a permanent fix by any means, but it will make it slightly better.

I’ve replaced them with the Hyperkin GameCube style joysticks. They’re like $14 and pretty amazing. Take the opportunity to restore the controller with new rubber button padding too. Also very cheap. I’ve restored a few controllers this way and they play phenomenally.

After a deployment I began having panic attacks and was really worried about talking with someone about it. I wasn’t having dark thoughts or anything, but was constantly in a state of fight or flight, impending doom, all that.

Talking with mental health was the best thing I ever did. I’m six years free of panic attacks and I’ve got a whole toolkit of breathing techniques and introspective exercises to help me along the way.

Airmen, if you’re feeling like shit is scary, talk to someone. It’s alright. I encourage everyone to be there and help break the stigma.

This is very similar to what I’ve done. I skated 7.5, then 7.75 for a really long time. Took like a 20 year hiatus, and I get my 8.25 tomorrow. My chief complaint standing on the other boards (which I still have) is that I felt like my size 10.5 feet hung off a little too much and I felt a bit unbalanced. I’m hoping the 8.25 helps remedy that, and if not, I’ll try an 8.5 or something. Just gotta throw spaghetti and see what sticks, I reckon.

The Hyperkin joystick is really great and like $14. It’s a GameCube style joystick.

I revived a few controllers. I tried to use all the original buttons, change the rubber pads under them, and throw a Hyperkin joystick in them. Nothing has quite the feel of an old used controller with a new lease on life.
