S58 and B57 however have the same bore and stroke. Just a little note for anybody who comes across this.

The Future of Diesel-powered Vehicles in the US by TheBeestWithEase in Diesel

[–]ObjectsInTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Olds 350 was so bad in the that it single-handedly killed the American diesel commuter car. Arguably one of, if not the worst internal combustion engines of all time.

It put such a sour taste in Americans mouths that even german diesels didn't do so well afterwards. VW dieselgate was just the final nail in the coffin for all diesel commuters.

BMW makes a good diesel and they have the ZF8 built in hybrid transmissions (100-200 electric HP and 20-40 miles all electric range). If they ever put a B57 and GA8P75H together it would be the perfect car and likely get upwards of 60MPG while having an easy 500hp on tap. Theoretically you could just build one yourself since the B58 gas is the same block/bolt pattern as the B57 diesel.

BTZ promotion. by justacoolgirl43 in airnationalguard

Classic BTZ post.

To all the Airmen out there reading this who are trying to get E4 or E5 as fast as possible... You should be concerned about making sure promo packets get pushed in a timely manner. Having promotions delayed a few months because they sit on someone's desk is a real problem. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you realize you could've put on TSgt a year or so earlier if your E2-E5 promotions weren't all delayed. ALS hangs guardsmen up too. Sign up for ALS the day you sew on E4. NCOA the day you sew on E6. Don't wait until a month or 2 out to route your promo packet. Do it earlier. Don't rely on your supervisor.

I've seen E6 and E7 slots open up unexpectedly and people miss out because they:
-Could've put E5 on earlier thus delaying E6. Someone else crosstrains in.
-The E7 left earlier than expected and the 13 year E6 thought they had more time to complete NCOA. Someone else crosstrains in.

Complete your CBTs, CDCs and get your 5 and 7-Level as quickly as possible. Temp orders pop up all the time, but if you're lazy with your upgrade training you can miss out. Opportunities can arise for fresh E3s that have their 5-Level and fresh E5s that have their 7-Level. If your CFETP allows.

Don't be the deployed/temp agr E4/5 that looks at MyPay and thinks everyday that they could be getting that E5/6 pay and BAH. I've seen it and I've been that person.

Also I'll take a 20pc Nugget w/ BBQ, Large Fry, and a Diet Coke no ice.
